    Default Universal Soldier (SNES) WTF?!

Universal Soldier was a bastardized port of Turrican 2 on the Mega Drive. It's hated (quite rightly so) for fucking over a classic Amiga game and replacing the sprites with ones that (don't in the least) resemble the namesake movie license it got slapped on with. Get other that fact, and it's still a goodish game with great music (imo at least).

Anywhos, today I learnt there was a cancelled SNES port of it. This one, OMG, has ZERO saving graces.

Your ears might bleed from hearing the game's audio. You have been warned!

    So opinions?

Yep, I've known about it. I really wonder if that music was still in the placeholder stage, or if they were planning on shipping the game like that.

To this day, I'd still love to see someone look into UniSol Genesis' code and see if any of the outright deleted Turrican 2 content still exists. The music certainly does, and it would be cool to have a "restored" Turrican 2 on Genesis to have all three of the original trilogy on the console.

The Genesis port of the first Turrican wasn't all that great either. I'm mostly not too flattered with the framerate. It's obviously converted sloppily from PAL and runs too fast in the NTSC version. It's also one of those pre-TMSS titles, but that's aside from the game itself. Unfortunately, a lot of PAL Amiga ports to Genesis run like this in the NTSC versions. I think the Japanese version of Shadow of the Beast is one of the few instances where they actually managed to correct all the ugly glitches that plagued most of these games.

There is a Super Turrican 2 on the SNES.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

To be honest, I've never checked that one out, and don't want to, because everything I've seen of it is devoid of the Turrican "soul".

Super Turrican 2 is a pretty good game, but a terrible Turrican sequel. Too different, and not for the better. The excessive focus on minigames and super linear levels is totally unlike Turrican.
