Default Need help identifying a blown sot-23 pacakge on CDX power board.

Hey guys! Just as the title states.

I have a Sega CDX that has no power issues, won't power from batteries or wall outlet.

Upon disassembly it seems someone else was already in here(uh oh.) and I found a blown sot-23 package. It's the one closer to the DC input jack. Anyone know what this guy is, or a suitable replacement? I'd just google the markings... but they are burned off.

Could likely be a transistor or a Fet or even a diode, hard to tell unless you post some images of it and it's location so someone with one or experience can give an answer.

    Attachment 11872
    Attachment 11873

    Hope that helps.

I've found a few false leads.

From pictures I've been able to find on google of the CDX pcb, the code appears to be w7. Can anyone confirm this? If so, then it appears to be a Zener diode in a SOT-23 package.

The links to the attachments don't seem to work. For me, anyway

Here is a guide that goldenband posted for the attachment system, and said will work if you know what to do. I have gotten attachments to work a number of times I believe this very way.

If you choose the "Insert Image" icon instead, it'll appear to work, but you'll always get the error where only you see your attachments, and everyone else just sees dead links that say "Attachment 3234" etc.

Or you can host them on Tinypic, Imgur, or another site like that.

tl;dr: Click "Go Advanced", never "Insert Image".

Not related to this topic mainly because I tried to create a new thread to which I do not have the option for it unless I have 50 post done which don't get me wrong, I would love to make 50 posts but I do not wish to spam 50 just so I would be able to create a new post. It's just wrong, hopefully this can be fixed.

I have a question regarding the Sega Genesis slot. I am trying to find on eBay that slot insert. I have no idea what it is called. It is basically the thing that holds and reads the game to the console. I need someone to please shoot me a link on eBay or somewhere affordable so that I could save one of my dying sega genesis. I need to replace that part. Thank you

Genesis Slot (64 Pins) off of tototek.com if you just need one.

To any and all, these 64 pin cartridge slots are only available from China/Hong Kong/Taiwan? Also, do any have the ears for it to be screwed down as the ones that are originally in the Mega Drive/Genesis?

    Edit:
Might help? A little blurry. Looks like L M on it if that helps?

I found that picture days ago.

    It's either a w7 or an LM.

Now I need someone with an actual CDX and a multimeter to check the voltages across the pins for me with it on.

And to probe out where the top pad goes... When I went to remove the blown package today, it ripped the top pad off with it. Doesn't appear to connect to anything though, which makes tracking this package down more confusing.

In keeping with the off topicness of the thread, you can use that and not have any issues, look at the Game Genie or Sonic & Knuckles carts. Those carts have that same connector and aren't screwed in and hold up rather well and 64 pins soldered to the motherboard will give it plenty of strength.

Yeah. That connector should be fine. You may find the original connector is rivited to the genesis motherboard, in which case you'll have to cut the old connector so the new one fits. I had to do that when I replaced a sega cd v1 card edge connector due to mangled pins.

Concerning my problem: the case code is certainly w7.

I have a friend sending me his working sega cdx for me to reverse engineer the power pcb of. I'll share the schematics that I draw up.
