    Edit:
Here's what is really funny about this:
WM isn't making any money on this game. Doesn't it seem strange that someone would profit from this project even before the developers? This guys whole goal in doing this is to make a few quick bucks. If you ask me, any profit he makes should go straight to WM!

Christuserloeser what you're doing is disrespectful to the very nature of this project -> a not-for-profit fan project
It was WM's choice not to make any money off this (they could have easily done so). It's also the buyer's choice whether or not to purchase the ones christuserloser is selling. No one here is under any moral obligation to anyone else to provide them with the stuff they want for whatever price they think they should get it at.

I don't think this is a non-profit fan project, but I've heard that there's little profit being made with the first print. There might be later print runs, and there might be XBLA, PSN, and Wii versions. Personally I hope for a Dreamcast port too.

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

When PS preorders started I asked Fonzie whether he could offer a rebate so I could sell for WM's official price. Quoting our PMs from 10/2008 (I hope Fonzie don't mind):

    Wow ^^
    Sorry for my late reply

Umm, like I maybe said before, since we are selling the game at exact production cost, the only thing we can discount is the fact we ship all the games in a big box rather than lot of small boxes... but it saves exactly 1.80 usd per copy if i remember correctly, its not exponential, sorry.

That's why we never (and anyway it was insane) offered discount to people who buy more than 1 copy.

    I hope you will understand.

    See ya

    Fonzie

Usually you'd get things cheaper than retail price if you order a huge quantity. That way you can sell at retail price and still make a profit or at least pay your ebay bills. With the game sold at production cost you don't have much choice but to sell at a higher price than what WM askes for it. I certainly won't sell at loss. And ebay wants €4,50 for each copy sold, and PayPal another €1,40.

While I think anyone is free to re-sell whatever they see fit...

Not only they agreed to sell the game at "no profit" price, they've also lost quite a lot of money already.

Yeah, I mean if the plan to release it for XBLA, why not port it to Dreamcast too ? It's a Sega console. Sega's last console. And the tools are free so there are no costs other than pressing the CDs (and printing the inserts).

Dreamcast doesn't have the same market as the RRoD.

So it takes a "moral obligation" for someone to know right from wrong?

What CUL is doing is the same as charging someone for volunteer work! I think most people can deduce the wrongness of that.

Having read the last few pages of this thread, I gotta say...

Guys, your can preach until your balls fall off, but it doesn't change one simple fact... Christuserloeser has paid for, in full, every copy he preordered. They are in essence, his property to do with as he sees fit, short of illegally making ROMs and handing them out (or copyright infringements in general).

I can promise you, others will put their copies on ebay. Whether it's because of not liking the game, beating it and not wanting it any more, or just trying to get a few bucks, there will be copies put on ebay by others who bought it. Should they give any profits over $35 to WM as well? No, they shouldn't. Once something is fully paid for, it belongs to the one who paid for it... be it a preorder, a physical copy, or whatever. What they do with it from that point, is their perfectly legal choice (again, as long as they violate no copyright laws).

Morally wrong is raping a little kid. Morally wrong is beating the hell out of someone who can't defend themselves. What isn't morally wrong, is selling what you've paid for to someone else. So let's stop trying to make Christuserloeser out to be some horribly evil man who eats babies and rapes kittens, and give the guilt trip attempts a rest. You won't change his mind, and you're not doing anything beyond derailing the thread.

It may be because of my poor english but I don't understand what you mean. RRoD?

Besides, I'd LOVE to see a Dreamcast port. Just put the same rom as the MD version but with all languages and audio tracks, and I'd get two :P
(I'm Synapse at the Pier Solar boards, by the way )
