Only if someone thinks it's worth the effort. They probably wouldn't have much luck releasing and selling a physical reproduction. Who would want that? They'd have to get it working in existing emulators. If it were a commercial release and not homebrew (something like Virtua Racing), I could understand the effort, but I don't think the coding/hacking community will put in the excessive amount of effort if that's what's required. They'd probably rather just make a another useless new hack for Sonic 1.

I think you're underestimating the desire that some hackers/coders have. They don't care about profits or making a clone cart, they just want to do it for the sake of being able to say they did it. That's a big driving force for some people that a Sonic the Hedgehog hack simply isn't going to satiate. Some folks love a challenge, and the "can't be emulated" claims about Pier Solar are going to be seen as a direct challenge by them... one they'll take up the gauntlet of, and run with.

Coders/hackers made versions of Genesis emulators for various newer consoles like the Dreamcast and XBox, right? So if they'd do that, emulating a supposedly unemulatable game isn't going to be shied away from. Someone will put forth the effort, it's just a matter of when.

That DarXide repro is bad ass, but the price is just way too high.

I don't appear to have any more gems either. But to be fair, I'd completely forgotten I'd preordered the soundtrack at all. ;P

^I'm a patient man as well. I actually don't have any rush as to when I get my items shipped. I just wanted to know if it's factual that we'd be getting such "extra gems". If so, I can see myself buying an extra copy for a friend I've been meaning to buy for some time now.
