I couldn't disagree with you more. SFT has released nothing but quality products since Beggar Prince. Not to mention, it has an already-established dynamic library. There is no question Pier Solar is a completely original title, but the games from SFT wouldn't have reached us in such quality, mainstream, official form had it not been for their hard work and dedication. You do nothing but complain.

I can appreciate an attention to detail. It shows a lot of respect for their fans that they put in that kind of effort... as opposed to slapping the cart in some shoddy makeshift shell with the old sticker residue barely scrapped off. The end result gameplay wise would be the exact same, but the presentation counts for a lot in terms of how the game is received.

Thanks for the nice pics Genesis Knight!! I'd rep you but "you must spread...yada yada yada".

It looks really nice to me, so while I kind of regret not preordering when they were only $25, I'm still a bit hesitant to give WaterMelon money in advance most of the time. I'll grab one now along with the EP print.

Hell, I don't blame you. I bought it on a whim; kind of blows my mind that they couldn't put up some photos like that to give you a better idea of what you were buying. Be sure to check out the little interview pamphlet. There's some really cool insights in there.

I have the same problem with NG Dev Team. All they offer are the tiniest screenshots of their games, specifically the Dreamcast GunLord release. Would it kill them to throw up three or four high-res box shots? Maybe a photo of the manual or disc? Blah.

Pier Solar's music is generally pretty good and perfectly fitting for the game, but I wouldn't go so far as to use the term "eargasm". It's certainly no Phantasy Star 2 in that regard.

And they have renders instead of photo because they are ashamed of the final product. Otherwise they'd have photos. Or maybe they just suck at photography, I don't know.

^ They did take photos, only when they did so they had the Pier Solar soundtrack on in the background so every photo was ruined by a splotch of ear semen.

They actually printed the word "eargasm"

I'd still like a replacement for the faulty "enhanced CD" they shipped with the "day one" version.
Yeah, who tought it was a good idea?

If I had seen this photos back in the day I would've purchased it.

based on the context of his post, I think he meant he "wouldn't have purchased it". We may never know; either way, it sounds like a contradicting statement.

About the comments on "eargasm", I'm personally more concerned about the words that came before that: "Stop begging". It accentuates just that self-centered, elitist attitude I spoke about in the Magical Factory Thread:

But if I must elaborate on my opinion (which I don't think I have yet), I can see where many of these users (including myself) are coming from:

What many of us are seeing with this "scheme/business model/call it what you will", imo, is the same blatant ego-centrism we've allowed Watermelon, as a company, and many Watermelon team members to display here at sega-16 (The guys I've mentioned above are stellar in their behavior, so this most definitely does NOT apply to them). But there are team members (who I won't mention at this time) that in many occasions in this and Watermelon's forum have already drawn a clear elitist attitude in every sense of the word. Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass as to how a person feels about himself, but when the attitude affects how I feel about a game I just paid good money for, it sickens me. I've owned the first reprint edition since it became available, but I've yet to play the game because of the many distasteful comments that have been left by Watermelon team members to others as well as myself. It has left a sour taste in my mouth that I can't wash-away every time I feel the urge to boot-up the game.

    ...
Needless to say, I have yet to play the game.

Honestly... have you seen some of the junk put in many manuals, pack ins, promo, and other official materials? "eargasm" Fits right in with all the bad buns, lame jokes, and attempts at being "hip" that many games have, do, and undoubtedly will, attempt.

Not saying they were doing this tongue in cheek and realizing how dumb it sounds, as they might well have thought it was the best and most accurate description in the world when they wrote it up.

Either way, it's certainly not something I'd give a second thought over, and certainly wouldn't make me enjoy the game or sound track any less, they can stand (or fall) on their own merits.

I like that track, too. I believe it's the one in the canyon right above the Village of Much Sand towards the beginning of the game (forget the actual track name, sorry).
