Those are three games that I'm really expecting the dumps to play. IMO the "real" releases had poor packaging and a lot of bugs. To not talk about how SFT handled the shipment of the last release... I'm really not willing to pay $50 or $500 for that. Sorry.

Space reserved to SFT whores/groupies and avid collectors that will say something like: "bla bla bla my version looks perfect and I love the packaging"
"No bugs here bla bla bla" "We should support all efforts like that bla bla bla"

High Quality --> Here's my money, take it!
Low Quality --> Dump request sent.

^Sounds to me like sore loser talk. There's no need to call any of us in that fashion or mock our products. Just because you didn't get the game for $50 doesn't mean you gotta mock the games for going upwards of $250 on eBay and such ($500? I don't think so). None of the SFT games have any more bugs than the average 16 bit Genesis game. The packaging was superb in the two games I've purchased and the care in the programming itself is beyond the quality of most 16 bitters, regardless of Genre.

I have to agree with both Genesis Knight's as well as sheath's comments. If the rom was dumped earlier, it would not have affected sales very much. Avid fans of the console would still buy the game to play on original hardware. The fact that the development team sold the game at a fair price (kudos to you Watermelon team) only gives more credence to this point.

I own all three, only paid higher than MSRP for Wukong.

I just feel bad for other collectors who shell out $200+ for those games since they're not really worth it and - unlike MUSHA, Eliminate Down, whatever - you can't play them via emus.

That's what I would expect too. Before the release the WaterMelon team was suggesting they would release Pier Solar for some other platforms too, like XBLA or Virtual Console or something else. This was used as an argument in favor of highly sophisticated copy protection. Because if there would be a ROM, why would people pay for downloading it elsewhere, if they can get it for free and play it on the platform and emulator of their choice?

I was replying to the prior comment made by the agnostindude. I have always been of the same school of thought as you guys that making these ROMs available digitally (legally or otherwise) wouldn't hurt the sales of these products in hardcopy format one bit. They are meant for collectors and gamers of retro systems.

As for feeling bad for those who didn't get a copy, I'd say thanks. I'm one of those who didn't get a chance to buy Beggar Prince. I enjoyed Legend of Wukong and I love, love Star Odyssey. I'll probably have to shell-out those same $200 one day for it. But here's to hoping that now that Brandon over at SFT is basically done with Nightmare Busters and is just taking care of orders, he might be able to go back to his Genesis releases and do another re-release of Beggar Prince one day.

As for Pier Solar, I haven't yet played the game through, but I'm thinking of making it my next RPG to beat now that I have the official OST.

They most certainly do! Many, many more. Especially Beggar Prince.

By the way, is SFT even still around? It seems like they've disappeared into the abyss.

Beggar Prince has more bugs than Lizzie Lohan's twat. I found one bug in Wukong. Or at least I think it is one, dead characters can resurrect themselves with magic in camp mode . That gambling game seemed impossible to fail at, too. Star Odyssey didn't have any bugs when I played it.

I hope the programmer(s) who came up with the copy protection aren't being silently dismissed off

I'm not Zebbe but I can tell you something: site down, torrents deleted... In other words, they're trying to protect their intellectual property like they should (IMO).

The hacker is probably in Guantanamo Bay right now!
Too bad that he isn't as smart as Assange...

Yes. It looks like Brandon is concentrating on one game at a time. We haven't heard much about SFT because the current game now is Nightmare Busters for the SNES.

    I can't wait to see what's next.
