I guess I will be passing on this one too. I find it so amazing that you can literally be at a fucking drug store not paying attention and run into those Sega and Atari machines. I also ran into a Neo Geo X at a liquidator and bought it just because. You want an NES Classic or SNES mini sure you just have to give up an arm, leg, and throw your soul in it for good measure.

That's because Nintendo don't give a shit about its customers. They have a history of this going back the past decade with pre-planned limited supplies. This will be the 1st console I've bought from Nintendo dating back a decade as well, because I don't like how they treat their loyal customers.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

I got lucky to look at my phone within 3 minutes of the Walmart page going live. So far I'm confirmed for a Oct 7th delivery.

As for scalpers, as much as I dislike them, I can't completely blame them. Blame the people without self control that fuel their greed.

It's been mentioned other places, but the reason for short supply on the NES classic (and probably the SNES one) is the NAND shortage happening globally. Ninty is putting most of their NAND in the big money makers like the Switch, hence smaller production for the Classics.

There's also like 100 times the demand for Nintendo "classics" over the AtGames products.

Well it appears that this company has thousands of NES Classics but there is a catch.

"We found some!" And then we decided to bundle it with stupid shit so they could justify marking up the price!

I read a Ars Technica article earlier today noting the availability of the NES Classic and it made me wonder how many "suckers" ThinkGeek got with this little stunt!

NES Classic bundled with junk and that justifies a purchase Errr no!

They sold out instantly, but yes, pretty ridiculous.

They sold out, so they got quite a few. Had quite a few folks attempt to debate with me about the practice too.

Lol, ThinkGeek has learned quite a lot about crappy practices after being acquired by GameStop.

Don't worry. Because GameStop cares and wants you to know they will never stop searching for secret stashes hidden around the world, they will have these in very rad bundles for years to come.

I'm wondering if the US release is never going to have pre-orders, and Nintendo is just going to let it be total mayhem as everyone is rushing out, trampling over innocent bystanders and getting into fistfights with each other at every Walmart, Best Buy and GameStop for their chance to get a SNES mini...

Pretty much an early Black Friday.

The whole thing is a joke.
Nintendo just wants to have their name all over the "most wanted product" for the holidays again. It generates brand hype, which I'm fine with in theory. But then they string along with little bits of releases here and there, then close up shop so they can do it all again.

I wouldn't be shocked if next year is the N64. Then the year after some variant on the NES one, or maybe even a GC one. Not like they are packing these things with games, so they could put 2-3 games on a "Cube Classic" and call it a day.
