There are a couple of really awesome shmups. Can't see them in the lineup, though.
I'm just getting it for the Metal Slugs, tbh.
Magician Lord is awesome.
That said this new mini will probably suck. I've went through my neo geo phase, it's a great system but emulation on a shield fills my need for retro things.
I'm not sure how to feel about this mini console. It's a definite risk to release it in this form factor. Hopefully the emulation is solid and the external controllers are good.
I don't see why the emulation should be bad. This is by SNK, not that crapshoot company that made the X. It can't be worse than the PS2 compilation, I'd imagine. And those were solid.
It's happening!!

The NEOGEO mini, a video game console celebrating the 40th Anniversary of SNKs brand is announced!
40 legendary NEOGEO titles will be included!
The NEOGEO mini is a video game console, which will include 40 nostalgic titles from the NEOGEO system, which made its debut in 1990. This console will feature a 3.5 inches display, meaning the games can be enjoyed with no need to connect to a TV or monitor! The size of the NEOGEO mini means it fits perfectly in the palm of ones hand. The NEOGEO mini will be available in two different designs, one for the Asian market and the other one for overseas markets (for North America, South America, Europe and other regions). With its design in black, white, and red, the Japanese version of the NEOGEO mini will faithfully reproduce the original NEOGEO arcade cabinet that was introduced in Japan in 1990. The overseas version will be a simple and modern design in black, white and blue.
We hope you look forward to enjoying the NEOGEO mini along with its legendary and popular NEOGEO titles.
For more details such as the release date and title lineup, please stay tuned for future announcements.

Man, I love me some handheld consoles... but Im not really digging the mini-cabinet design of this one. How comfortable can that possibly be to hold? My hands cramp up enough as it is with the GBA SP.
My mini Bad Dudes cabinet is decent to play in short bursts, but that is a long way from KOF. I do wish that it looked more like the red MVS arcade machines in the U.S.
Last Resort and Blazing Star are on there, along with Ghost Pilots (I would have gone with Alpha Mission II to fill the early shooter spot personally). No Pulstar is a shame though.
Overall it seems like a pretty carefully curated lineup. Only the more essential entries in some cases, although getting carried away with Metal Slug was always going to happen. Both Shock Troopers is nice, and I have a soft spot for the Neo's beat 'em ups - Mutation Nation and Robo Army have great style even if they are kinda meh.
I probably wouldn't bother with this unit anyway but I might make an exception if the emulation is on point. The HDMI is the draw, can't see playing it any other way.
Awesome. I just skimmed over the list and got lost with all the fighters. When I saw the first Metal Slug, I was like: Sold!
There will be some exclusive games to both the North American and International releases. And it sounds like it will include a controller based on the Neo CD pad. Link at bottom of post.

FFS, what is with this region exclusive nonsense? How is that supposed to make anyone happy? Are they trying to make people double dip?
I'm surprised Magician Lord is not on the US version, but shows up on the International one. Also, way too many fighting games; almost to the point of shovelware. I'm still going to get this thing. But I would have liked to have seen more variety.
