Exclusives are not enough for me to ignore that these .. things .. are laptops as Kamahl stated "they're all cheap computers with restricted operating systems" as the Sony PS3 showed me with it's 2.5'' HDD, cooling issues, system failures, somewhat internal modular design, DRM, digital downloads, games patches, XMB OS updates, the need for a publishers to take away an element of a game because they can, online reliant multiplayer narrative or as gamevet said "concerned with making cash cow online games" and the last straw for me was mandatory subscription to use the "cash cow online" component than you got games like Zipper Interactive's MAG having servers shut down so it is no longer possible to play the game (but funny when I see them for sale on ebay some still unopened?) if this is the rout they are going to hell with them with dealing with all of that may as well invest in a nice gaming capable all around desktop PC.

Edit: So yeah the eighth generation marks the death of video game consoles for me gong forward.

Edit2: This was funny also the other day Sony Playstation 4 Crashes from Messages with Symbols

Well, like gamevet said, most of the so called exclusives are easily available on PC. And from your list there's... 1 good game? Ryse was originally meant to be a Kinect game (remember that?) that was changed last minute into a boring QTE-fest. Halo V and Gears of War IV are utter shadows of their former selves, insults to their respective series more than anything.

Ok, there's Quantum Break and Forza, which are also on PC. Why would I want an Xbox? I didn't care much for the 360 either but it had nice exclusives. The only Xbox that is worth a damn is the OG Xbox (still haven't forgiven microsoft for making me call it that) with its few but extremely high quality exclusives.

I could never get my physical copies of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1&2) to run well, or at all on my PCs. The Original Xbox is the way to go for those games.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Funny thing is I really like OG Xbox and 360 but not for Halo or Gears as I never liked those series. 360 was really good for importing shmups and better versions of multiplat games than PS3 because some may forget for a few years there, PS3 ports of games were fucking garbage like Bayonetta or Skyrim.

So what if you don't game on the PC or even own a PC?. Also, that doesn't change the fact that the likes of Gears of War, Ryse Ect cost a hell of a lot of money to produce and had a single player focus. In fact, I'm amazed more here don't like Ryse, Its a modern day Huge budget take on Golden Axe. Lost of games start out complete differently or change systems. GV started life out as Light Gun Dreamcast game, Assasins Creed started out as a Prince of Persia sequel, DMC as RE 4 or what about Shenmue has a Saturn title, or HALO a Mac game and not even a FPS, remember that ?

Fair point, but let me give you a couple of real life reasons why its no quite as clear cut as 'Its out on the PC'. One of my friends Gary, who started their gaming life on the Mega Drive (bought it when Toe Jam & Earl launched) doesn't own a PC and uses his Smart phone and Amazon Fire 10 Tablet for PC like functions (shoping online), both systems wouldn’t be able to handle Xbox One or PS4 games.
My Nephew who's a massive gamer and owns countless consoles since the PS and Saturn, his current PC set up is a Chrome book Laptop, which couldn't run the games and could just about fit one game on its memory anyway. What about people, who don't own a PC, have no interest in PC or where their PC style tech isn't good enough do you ever consider people who don’t game on PC ?

Just because you or some here game on PC, own a PC doesn't mean many others do. Gone are the days when you even had to have a PC to set up the Internet, most Broadband provides set up the modem for you. There are millions of people who don’t game on the PC and rather game on consoles and of course it should be noted, that any GFX Card or PC game that uses Direct X has to pay a nice fee to MS, so MS makes money off the PC users too. Maybe it’s why SEGA saw fit to release many so called Saturn and Dreamcast exclusives on the PC and why even though FF 7/8, Tomb Raider series, MGS were on the PC, there were consider PS exclusives back in the day and SONY paid EDIOS a fortune for the consoles rights to Tomb Raider, becasue the PC and consoles are seen has diffferent markets( Don't use the fact that Consoles use PC tech, that's not knew as we saw with the DC and OG XBox)

Overall the 8th gen has definitely gotten my attention. The fact that my PS4 has become my all-in-one entertainment center is besides the point. What sold me into it was The Witcher 3. There are more gaming PCs on the planet, than there are total consoles ever sold. Approximately 1 in 9 people on this planet have a gaming capable PC, and just last year, an estimated 60 million gaming PCs were sold. That’s the reason why Nvidia and Intel’s earnings dwarf the combined earnings from consoles.

I very much doubt the are more gaming PCs sold than consoles, but to look over at for a moment. Can you just explain to me, why games like Far Cry, Doom, Battlefield. GTA and Cod currently sell better on consoles rather than PC, even though they started out on PC. If more people use PC's to game on?.

I think while billions might own a PC, millions more gamers would rather game on the console and I don't in anyway mean that as insult to PC gaming or gamers

There are more options on PC. PC software sales are on par with the combined sales of consoles and handhelds. League of Legends on PC had 100 million players, during its peak. Now it’s PUBG, Overwatch and Fortnight.

I, as a PC gamer, didn’t buy an Xbox One, because I have a PC in the living room that I game on like a console. I also have my main rig in my office. I got a PS4, because Sony’s studios put out some of the best games available, so I found a need to purchase their console.

Yeah it's been hard to keep up. I have had to put many games I want on a wish list instead of buying them.Last year my PS4 I bought a new game for it seemed almost weekly on both 3rd party games and exclusives and this year my Switch took a turn and next year looks like both. My Wallet May Cry. January it's Travis Strikes again and then March hits with Left Alive and DMCV and so much more. I'm usually buying retro games but not had the money with all these new games.

It's been a great generation for me, I've been enjoying the Ps4 way more than I did the Ps3 last gen and the sheer volume of good games releasing the past couple years has been pretty nice. Lots of good imports too. I'll probably get a Switch and maybe a Xbox One X next year, the backwards compatibility actually has me very interested in the Xbox because of the games running better than on the original systems.

I think I saw a boxed xbone and a ps4 gamepad once in the computer stores, and that's about all the exposure I had to current gen consoles. Actually I wanted to try the Xbone pad, but it doesn't have the same DirectInput support you can get with the x360 pad with the morii drivers. And I'm offput by how expensive and over engineered it is. The D-pad buttons are mounted directly on the PCB, so you can't just pop in a new membrane when it gets worn out either, raising costs more over the years.

I actually enjoy Ryse very much. The QTE crap just boils down to getting more bonus points in the finisher moves if you hit the right button. On the hardest difficulty it's God Hand levels of awesome: super tough, but very fair. You actually have to be good at timing attacks and defences at the right time, hacking away like a madman gets you killed by the first enemy. Despite how bare the gameplay is, it actually pushes your skills a lot, and makes it feel an accomplishment to beat every single enemy. And the battle animations are great and fluid too. If it was called, say, Golden Axe 3D or Conan the Barbarian, everyone would have creamed its pants.

And the graphics were incredible. First time ever that a game impressed me so much with how realistic the graphics looked.
I've been meaning to re play it ever since I first finished it, but I haven't had a chance to get a new video card, and I want to play it with maximum details.

Nvidia and Intels earnings are high because they sell millions of chips for the datacentre, server, HPC and automotive industries. Intel chips are also used in NAS, IoT, as modems in phones, you could go on forever. Gaming hardware is a drop in the ocean.

A better comparison is AMD, who barely had competitive products before Zen; they instead supplied chips to four major consoles, and it was barely enough to keep them afloat.
