    This topic again? gosh....

I held myself when I first posted here but... In my honest opinion, as far as platformers go, DKC crushes Vectorman.
That's it, I said it. Damn....

Gotta admit i am with Kollision with this one.
DKC is a fantastic platfomer. Loads of variety, great visuals, very easy to get into, good level of challenge.
In my humble opinion one of the best platformers for the 16 bit era.
To be fair i haven't put enough time into Vectorman to fully appreciate it. But what I have played, well it didn't seem that special to me, certainly no contra 3 or gunstar heroes.
You guys reckon it's worth investing more time in Vectorman? Some times you can only experience so much playing a game in your friends bedroom.
(Although it was in a friends bedroom where i 1st played DKC and that was enough to make me buy the game myself, straight away )

Vectorman isn't a bad game at all. It's hard to compare them too much, since they don't share too many similarities in gameplay. Judging each as a "game" and nothing more, however, I would have to say that DKC is the better game.

Sorry but Donkey Kong Country Wins my my book.
Donkey Kong is a brilliant platformer. It has plenty of levels, very good 24-bit graphics, it is challenging, but it is not too difficult and also it has great music as well.

I don't like Vectorman as much, because even though I agree that the lighting is a great feat to pull off on the Genesis, and that it's control scheme is both easy and smooth, I don't personally think that the gameplay of Vectorman's is up to scratch to Donkey Kong Country's, mainly because in my opinion, is that I think that Vectorman is bland in both gameplay and visuals. Don't get my wrong, Vetorman is still a great game, it's just that the layouts are kind off flat, also it is rather easy in my opinion, DK was challenging.

But to sum it all up, overall Vectorman is still a great game, which showed up the great visual effects of late-era Genesis games, and it's lighting is far superior to DK's, also it is still rather fun, even if it lacks challenge.

Yeah, it's greatly overrated - but not as overrated as Vectorman.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I always thought DKC looked neat at the time but the game it self bored me to death. Vectorman is not my fav either but I'll take it over DKC any day.

I'm with those who don't think the comparison fits well. I like both games. I think Vectorman is quite underrated, actually.
