Overlooked 2018 gems.

Any games of 2018 you felt got overlooked despite being good?




Cybersleuth Hackers Memory. I maintain you don't have to like Digimon to enjoy these games. I couldn't care less about Digimon. These are just great SMT like games with a Persona lite atmosphere.


Shining Resonance Refrain. It's a pretty decent RPG from SEGA. Ignore the Shining name as I know that name used to mean something truly special. If picked up cheap this is a decent JRPG to have in your collection.


Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise. Mentioned it in my GOTY but I think most people forgot about this one or passed it over.


Monster Boy & The Cursed Kingdom. This is a real sequel to the Wonderboy series! It's been since Monster World IV but this is a canonical sequel! It's also fantastic!


Yakuza Kiwami 2. Sure it's a remake but they added a lot. It's nearly a new game in comparison.


Valkyria Chronicles 4. The series returns to form. Best in the series since the first.


Capcom Belt Action/Genesis Collection/SNK 40th. All great compilations of classic games.


Starlink Battle For Atlas. I can't speak for other versions but the one with Starfox is the best Starfox game in 20 years. No Mans Skylanders is pretty fun. Fairly robust for a TTL.

Mega Man 11. This is better than Sonic Mania for what it does. Bring a classic series back to classic form but this is all new stages and music while keeping that classic feel.

Blade Strangers. It's not Capcom Vs but it's the closest you will get for indie games from Nicalis. Designed for newcomers mainly. It's a casual fun fighting game.

Blaze Blue Cross Tag Battle. This game is just so damn fun. Not overly casual nor overly hardcore. Just right.



Sorry I know that's a lot but I know there is still plenty that released in 2018 that few mention.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 - Felt like a true old-school SEGA game and the Canvas tech is still amazing.

Astrobot If Nintendo had made this game, people would be going ape and saying how Miyamoto is a genius and how only Nintendo can make a game like this. Hands down the best 3D platform game ever made.

F1 2018 One of the best racing sims ever produced

Tetris Effect Forget Miyamoto-san, Its Tetsuya Mizuguchi who's a real genius and this game is amazing in VR.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Such a well-made game that is so powerful.. visually, sonically and emotionally.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Fantastic adv game and as good as Drakes IV in almost every way

I don't know if I'd consider Mega Man 11 overlooked. Almost every one of my YouTube people were posting Let's Plays on it (those who do that kind of thing, anyway).

It will blow you away and It Nintendo was to have made it, we'll never stop hearing how wonderful and incredible they are and how only Nintendo could make a game like this.

I love the irony when you list Shining Resonance Refrain, but never mind. And while many games can get awards, they can still be overlooked like Tearaway for example
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is game so well made and produced that is really should be selling so much more on all systems
