N64 Retro Fighters N64 controller on Amazon pre order (worth clicking to see it)

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

This is the controller that was Kickstarted some time ago. Youtubers like Metaljesusrocks got one and loved it. Most seem to like it. Now we all can get one but not the basic grey. The see-through color ones. We can agree the N64 controller is garbage. Once upon a time the only way to get a good N64 controller was the Hori made ones which have now become exceedingly expensive.

I've got two of them, but they feel a little weird in Goldeneye. Haven't tested much else with the controller, as I haven't really felt like playing anything all year.

$36? This controller is interesting but I can’t imagine playing N64 enough to justify that price. Maybe if it were closer to $20...

That's not as bad as a price as you'd think. The build quality is solid and I wish someone had made this years ago when the N64 was still new.

The Hori pad is the only other useable controller and this is noticeably better. It's a small price to pay to transform a Nintendo 64 from a brick into a game console.

That's the only alternative worth a damn until now and those as you can see are far more than $36. Who knows if these are around long and just go up in price like the Hori ones. I see your point. For something that old it does make sense to be $20 or less if we apply logic. We just live in an illogical collectors world so it's not the case. I have avoided playing my N64 for some time as the controllers are getting worn.

Oh I think the price point is very fair... it’s just that, for me personally, the N64 is not worth spending $36 on.

If Mischief Makers gets ported to a modern system I might agree.

Judging by the 14 minutes I spent with the controllers I bought, I would have to agree. One still hasn't even been removed from the shipping box, and I haven't played multiplayer N64 since 1999.

I got one of the RF N64 controllers. I enjoy it as those original 64 joysticks don't age well.

For Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, I just can't never play it on the original N64 after playing them on the 1964 program with the mouse and controller. Its like playing those games for the first time.

You could've gotten the grey one for 20$ if you took part in the KS, or this colored one for maybe 25. Of course retail prices are higher. /me waits for my colored KS ones to ship, probably will be here in 3-4 weeks.

How many good fighting games are on the N64?

Um...I can barely think of any fighting games, to begin with, let alone one worth playing. MK ports sucked. Wargods sucked. Fighters Destiny was mediocre at best. KI Gold sucked. Clayfighters sucked. That basically leaves Smash and that's aged poorly. That is one of the major criticisms of the system back then was lack of RPGs and fighting games.

Do you consider Wrestling games fighting games? No Mercy was and is still great.

I'm getting one. It should be great for many titles. For shooters, though, I'll stick to the standard controller. D-Pad for strafing and Stick for aiming was pretty okay back in the day.
