Well, I backed it on Kickstarter and now I see I not only don't have the physical game, but I also don't have the ROM... Never received anything 😒
VISUAL SHOCK!

SOUND SHOCK!
NOW IS TIME TO THE 68000 HEART ON FIRE!
SEGA Mega Drive - Mortal Kombat Arcade Edition
That isn't fun…
When he said on SpritesMind the game was about to release I was like "wait, already?". Seriously, the communication part was atrocious :/ I think he intends to let Mega Cat Studios handle it from now on, anyway (and I know those guys are loud as heck).
Looks like the ROM available was never a demo in the first place then…?
Thanks for the kind feedback! I've been thoroughly enjoying the play through videos by Goati.
To answer a few questions.
Mega cat did a soft launch to have something up for pax east. Priority one is to get the backers (including nihilblack) their physical copies.
The demo matteus is talking about is the September Demo that was shipped to backers. Loads have happened to the game since then, so I will of course not release that.
I actually ordered Tanzer about a week ago I guess direct from the MegaCatStudio website store. I got my email this morning stating it is out for delivery so I should be able to pop it in and give it a go after work. Looking forward to it!

@highlandcattle I mean, I got my backer copy a week or so ago and just got to play it yesterday for the first time.
@mix256 Are there multiple endings to the game? I finished it once with the 4-gem set and once with the 2-piece oval gem set, but no difference in ending. I also did a bunch of the levels' dance orbs, but I assume that's just points.
Managed memory, in my VDP? It's more likely than you think.
Expand your ROM size with this one weird pointer dereference (Fonzie hates them).
Keeping the list of new physically released homebrew games up to date! ...And looking to buy a few I've missed.
I stumbled upon a few easy set-ups to handle area bosses and stage bosses that work in a good number of levels. I may have also spent all day playing.
-Mild spoiler alert-
When you are given an option between two paths within a stage, one of the paths (usually the harder one) has a gem. If you collect all four, you get a very useful power-up.
On the other side of one of those paths, and then in the middle of a very late-game stage, there are two halves of an oval gem. If you collect both, you get another useful power-up.
Collecting a full set of one gem seems mutually exclusive to the other set, though I only managed those two full play-thrus so I couldn't test any other theories on getting both.

I received mine a few weeks ago, backed form KickStarter also. Have yet to play it but looking forward to giving it a whirl.
Hey, I've received mine finally! This is a hardcore arcade with cool graphics, imaginative enemies, and powerful music. If you're only gonna get one homebrew, try this! It's a top release, and I'll support whatever Mikael does in the future (he seems to be working hard on a vertical shmup).
Can anyone tell me what are those big boulders with an engraved dancer for? And the other boulders without dancers in it? Kind of a mystery for me now.
You can kill enemies with your jump. When you kill an enemy in the air, you get an extra jump. If you break the first one (with the dancer on it) and make it to (and break) the second one without touching the ground, you get... lots of points at the end of the level.
Edit - If you've done it right, the second one will also have a dancer on it.
