Default Kraut Buster on the neogeo

Most people know me on sega 16 forum for having worked on piersolar and pshd as well as on the remake of vixen 357 and Tanglewood as character designer and cutscene animator/director

2 years ago I handled these tasks for the neogeo game Kraut Buster from ngdev team. It is a tribute to games such as metal slug and contra.

As the game came out recently, I thought I could share with you the intro of kraut buster I directed and created. I created the character design and the handdrawn board and pixel art animatic, then the pixel art was completed by the main game artists.
They have remained faithful to my pixel art animatic mostly in terms of board except my style was more anime especially for the dictator, the girl and some of the characters face/eyes shape /expressions which make them look a bit strange (which wasn't the case originally) . Otherwise pretty detailled rendering and overall good result imo.
As a side note I had used a music from the game Nier Automata to synch to the intro sequence action in my original animatic which is lost here as it's a completely different music.

I also created the ending as well as the character concept and pixel art for the select screen.

Overall I really enjoyed the pixel art style, not as good as Metal Slug, but still of a high standard.
No apparent slowdown in gameplay even with many on-screen elements and huge amount animation.

The music seems totally out of place most of the time.

Thanks. I think visually, it is among the very best looking indie games out there.

Pretty kickass intro, and pretty great ingame pixel art with loads of animation. I get shivers just thinking how much the pixel art in this game must have cost, but then I remember it costs 400 gajillion dollars and it doesn't seem so bad anymore.

If I'm not mistaken, it costs 450 euros for the mvs version. But it is sold out for now.

NG Dev Team sent a newsletter yesterday announcing additional copies of both the AES and MVS versions to help cover their manufacturing costs. I just checked as of this writing and some are still available on their store page. 439 EUR for any version - a bit steep on the MVS side, but AES prices have always been crazy (searching "metal slug aes" on ebay is not for the faint of wallet).
Managed memory, in my VDP? It's more likely than you think.
Expand your ROM size with this one weird pointer dereference (Fonzie hates them).

Keeping the list of new physically released homebrew games up to date! ...And looking to buy a few I've missed.
