MD/Genny games with great sounding sound/music

The cart version of Ecco the Dolphin had some great music and sounds, the version on Sega CD was even better. Ecco Tides of Time was pretty darn good too.

Sonic CD has the best music of any Sonic game in my opinion. If you haven't picked up the music CD called Sonic The Hedgehog Boom (or Sonic Boom) you really should. It contains a lot of the Sonic CD music in its full form and additional songs from other Sonic games. They pop up on ebay and Amazon fairly regularly. I listen to my copy fairly regularly.

This is for MD only games, but yeah, Sonic CD has really good tunes (least the European and Japanese versions, US version is not that good, but I like the Sonic Boom)

I think a couple of unsung music tracks in a Mega Drive game are Super Monaco GP's music tracks and also all of the Road Rash series

One game whose soundtrack I've enjoyed greatly is "The Immortal." I've spent the most time with this game running, just to listen to some of its music. The songs really help create the dark atmosphere, and suggest different moods for different parts of the game. I remember a minstrel type of fellow playing some exotic music in particular...

I've also always enjoyed the dark music of "Stormlord."


"Cool Spot" and "Greendog" have some nice upbeat tunes.
