The age of Pre-ordering on Amazon is over

In Europe (for now) if you pre-order you will be charged. This no doubt will happen in the US sooner rather than later. How these things go with Amazon. Yes, I know there will be that one voice "don't pre-order games der" There have been plenty of reasons to pre-order. Not everything is AAA game BS.


So does anyone know some alternatives for the UK and US that do not charge upon order?

Off the top of my head, what about Best buy, Walmart or gamestop? I don't know what the deal is exactly, but I know they all do preorders. I think it could be as little as 5 dollars down. I feel like the BB guy explained that to me before. Amazon's too big for their britches anyway. Support brick and mortar while you still can. The locally owned gaming stores near me do preorders as well. Surely there are many alternatives.

Best Buy charges right away. Walmart & Gamestop often don't get the same stuff. I have pre-ordered a lot of more niche games that just don't go up on Gamestop. Maybe they do later but I would keep checking and never see it. Also, Gamestop is bad, to begin with, but they are getting much worse. Again Walmart just doesn't put up much of the stuff I want to get. I'm sure Walmart will have a game I give no shits about like The Last of Us II up but there is no Daemon X Machina there.

That's a pity. For some purchases I used to get around the "this product is not eligible for shipping to your country" by pre-ordering.
On pre-orders when using Amazon UK the item has always shipped to me here even if it clearly states that it will not.
But yeah, not too keen now to continue doing that if I get charged right away for an item/s that will only be released several months down the line.

I believe the laws about pre-ordering are different in the US vs the EU, so I wouldn't expect things to change in the US.

this would never happen in the netherlands as then no one would ever pre order again knowing our culture.
