"NiGHTS Dream Wheel" could be almost anything lol.

How about it's a complete set-up for lucid dreaming, with different themes set up in a circle of choices (the "wheel"). It could all be digital or maybe a plastic wheel & dashboard, to choose what kind of dream u want, on its plastic wheel. Example: Desert setting dream. Rainforest. Ocean / Beach. etc

When you fall in deep sleep, the NiGHTS Dream Wheel system, begins the LED lights in your eye-mask, to trigger your lucid dreaming.

Then it plays surround sound audio to trigger your dreams, how you chose, like with the sound of rainforests, or the ocean, etc.

So then you could fly around over such settings, in your dreams... which is usually what people want to do, when they find themselves in a lucid dream...

So the NiGHTS theme fits. Hmm...

It sucks that you're in a minority in this. i wanted it to be a good game but it fell short hard. Sonic Mania just obliterated Sonic Force overall.

Sonic Mania is so overrated, it feels like a hack job and where someone just mixed and matched various Sonic games and just lumped together but with no real thought behind level design.

Really enjoyed Sonic Forces, but it was a big step backwards from Sonic Gen with the levels being too short. The game was good mind and also has ace music and some of the best boss battles in a Sonic name .

Looking forward to their next Sonic game and Sakura Wars from them

Sonic Mania should be treated for what it is, a fan game, nothing more nothing less.
It's great because original 2D Sonic are the best platform games ever made, a 1:1 clone of classic masterpieces can't be bad, even with an amateurish level design etc.

Is it OK to treat it like a fangame when Sega explicitly was making money off it though?

That said, I don't really complain about Sonic Mania's level design, so there's that. I'd prefer if they made another game where they didn't reuse any zones though.

You can call it an "officially licensed fangame", it's just semanthic in the end.
It's still a fangame, made by fans (and it's pretty clear in that aspect especially for its flaws) by reusing/recreating the work that Sega/Sonic team did in the '90.

What Sonic need is not more nostalgia (Mania 2), it needs again BRAND NEW quality games that could evolve the series in both 3D and 2D.
