Excellent game, very much following on from Shinobi III. This game shows that Sega really should have been concentrating more on 2D games for Saturn, as was their original plan, a 2D sonic fully utilising the saturns abilities could have been awesome. I suppose more 2D games probably wouldn't have helped the consoles sales back then, but it certainly would have made it a better console to look back on and play now, as most early 3D games are so ugly and choppy you just don't want to bother.
You serious, playgen? I think Shinobi X was the worst of the 2D-Shinobis...
Its a great game, I don't see why other people don't seem to like it. If you like Shinobi III surely you'd like Shinobi X as they're so similar, except its got far better graphics - slicing enemies in half with blood spurting out etc. I think its my favorite Saturn game - of the ones I've played so far.

Well, I like Revenge best. I think the digitized graphics and mediocre animation of enemies in Shinobi X are a poor sight...and the spilling of blood is just a cheap way to get more attention, the earlier Shinobis did not need that. Add the uninspired level-design, cheap FMVs and this is the tombstone for Shinobi imho.
The FMV scenes between levels are silly, but its not like they make any real difference to the game, just skip them if you don't like them. I think the graphics work really well, the mix of real and drawn graphics give it an interesting look. Spurting blood a bad thing! I think not!![]()
Perhaps if you've played the other shinobis to death and know them inside and out you may expect more out of a 32bit sequel, but I really enjoyed the game.
And if anything killed off the Shinobi franchise its the crappy GBA and PS2 games.

Aside from it having everything the other versions did, the Saturn version is supposed to have unique screen effects when you clear a stage.Originally Posted by Joe Redifer

Didn't get time to check my games last night, but another one has sprung to mind in Tombi! / Tomba! on the Playstation.
The sequel was pretty good too, if I remember, but it makes me think: are you interested in 2-and-a-half dimensional games also? If so, then something like Klonoa: Door to Phantomile might be worth your while, too.
I guess since Metal Slug was on 32-bit platforms, it counts. So Metal Slug is my answer.
since no one has yet to mention it:
Elevator Action Returns
Honorable mention goes to Keio Yugekitai, Astal, Clockwork Knight 2, Tryrush Deppy, and so forth
Oooh yes, that's a slick little bugger, that one. Definitely something to add to the list.Originally Posted by steve
