Nonono, Fonzie needs to one-up the existing incarnation of Paprium. Gotta one-up itself until it's perfect™. There's no way such a plan could ever go wrong!

After being away from the Genesis for about 5 years, I was super stoked about a new BLAST PROCESSING beat em up coming out when I saw the advert on Youtube a couple months ago. Then I saw the shitstorm. Shame it turned out to this way.
Sunk Cost Fallacy.
Never mind most people would be happy with a PC/Switch release now, and be perfectly fine with cartridge versions down the line.
If anything, it'd keep Watermelon afloat.
Even if the cartridge never came out, a downloadable release would be better than nothing. But Fonzie is unable to compromise or adapt.
I guess addon chips were nice on the NES/SNES/Virtua Racing MD to give players a little taste of next-gen games in their consoles. By now Fonzie would need to attach a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to it to make it worth so much craziness![]()
Yes, he was using a customized version of Gens. But let's say he didn't even have that, once you go to PC or Switch hardware the chip functions are totally unnecessary. Without the cart limit there is no need for decompression. Music tracks could be stored as PCM. Whatever 3D calculations the chip was doing (LOL @ 3D math in a 2D beat em up) could be done right on the CPU. The DMA issues wouldn't exist. In short every single problem Fonzie has would disappear if not for his obsession with only releasing the game on the Genesis.
Is there a term in psychology for a person who can only do things one way, even if it means the end of their business and career? It almost sounds like a type of OCD.
I think Luis, artist for Paprium, called him "idiot" in this very thread. So it is "Idiocy".
I think Flygon named it above - sunk cost fallacy, also known as escalation of commitment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escalation_of_commitment
Just wanted to express thanks for the discussion on this forum, given that I can't get information from Watermelon itself.

Project N wasn't being programmed by Fonzie, so the chances of it actually working on real hardware are definitely much higher.
That said, we know the project is basically dead because Fonzie doesn't pay, so the point is moot.
