Tbh shills like Luis deserve as low credibility as Fonzie, I understand the staff people that remain silent because they don't want to get further involved in this disaster, but still parroting the "you just wait guys it'll be awesome!" nonsense at this point without any proof nor willing to clear up things whatsoever is just insulting and worthless.

Paprium, coming soon since 2017. Longest coming soon ever.

Lots of projects get delayed but the key difference here is that money was taken with the promise that the game would be out soon. Try that at a major studio and as soon as it becomes clear you can't (or won't) stick to a schedule they will seize the assets and assign the project to someone else.
I pre-ordered SLaVE on the Dreamcast in 2014....

I'll get an update email about once a year saying it's close to done and will be coming "soon".
Yeah SLaVE is a similar disaster that gets way less attention. When was the last update? Two years ago?
The sad thing about all of this is that it hurts honest people that may require a crowdfunding to finish their games. Now we as users are very suspicious about anyone asking for money in advance.
Well, which we all should have been to begin with. I think early successes like the Super Fighter Team games got people too comfortable with handing money over early.
On the Genesis front that’s true, but crowdfunding for NES homebrew has been generally successful and reliable with only a few games demonstrating immense delays.
When you think about it, it does seem ridiculous that we would part with cash so readily for something that didn't exist at the time. I did so based on the success of pier solar - Paprium didn't seem like a scam, but a product from a genuine company with a track record (albeit limited). Now, based on Paprium, if Watermelon were to ever function as a legitimate business again, it will never have another pre-order from me. Unfortunately that same philosophy has been carried across to all crowdfund projects - once you've been burned you're wary of being burned again!
