It was cited in the manual/promo scans leaked years ago.

Some SNES Beat'em Ups had such feature.
Hilarious. The SNES with it's slow CPU could do this out of the box but the Sega Genesis with Blast Processing and a modern co-processor in the cart still needs an add-on?

I find it hard to believe the Sega CD is really needed for this feature, it seems like a ton of extra work for no benefit.

Yes, Sega CD's Motorola 68000 processor is responsible for AI of second player.

Remember how in Final Fight 3 on the snes you can have a CPU controlled 2nd player? well to have that on the Genesis you need an entire fucking Sega CD.
    SnesChads win again..

Doesn't make any sense. So I can play coop with a friend on stock console but need a Sega CD to be helped by some AI so advanced it needs a whole, faster clocked, 68000 ?

Imagine if Sonic 2 had been designed that way. You can have one or two players, but if you expect the CPU to move Tails you better buy this huge add-on that requires another power supply.

I remember how sad we were that you could neither play Final Fight (original) on SNES with a friend, nor could you play as Guy. One of the worst ports ever. And then they dumped more salt in the wound by releasing a version with Guy that didn't have Cody and also still didn't have a 2 player mode.

We all just played Streets of Rage instead. At least it had co-op.

Something tells me the release of Cyberspunk 1977 is partially what prompted Project Y's sudden release.
Standing beside the former, Project Y might not appear so buggy and broken in comparison?

Another comparison is a connector on the cartridge that will likely be used for uploading patches and fixes from a PC, so it is following the modern game distribution model if that is the case.

Do not connect anything there, yet, more announcements soon.

I really wonder what they managed to finish and release, and if it even resembles what they had in mind.

I believe the first retro game developers to use that feature were the NG DEV team, they have released several patches for their Neo Geo carts fixing glitches, adding new enemy patterns etc. It's a great idea and I wish everyone was doing it. Their games are expensive but they look and play like commercial titles.

    You read my mind!

I have a feeling that Paprium will run far better on older consoles though.

    Have fun fellas!

As far as I'm concerned, the advertising for this game and WM's 'other game' are garbage, and I have absolutely no interest in what looks like a dude preying on FOMO of the retro community. I'll wait for the reviews.

This makes no sense. They focus on the game so there's no screenshots? I think I need to be retarded in order to make sense of this.

Maybe the MD CPU is needed to run so many assets in the game it is maxed and this extra CPU is just there to help with zero tax on the MD hardware. The Mega CD CPU is much faster too they should have made an option to run it off that or hell just make a CD.
