WATERMELON TEAM
So I noticed that one of the dot points said there was rewards if you donated to the 'Save the Dolphins & Walruses' fund, followed the link and sent Fonzie an email about it and got a response.

We'll have to wait and see how that joke fund is related to paprium I guess but if there was doubt that the project is a real thing there you go.
Kamon, attachments don't work here, sadly. Better host stuff elsewhere, like on imgur.
I'm just 300 km away from Brest, am I supposed to be one of the first receiving the box of rocks ?

Early game. Sloppy port of a CPS game that really wasn't right for the system. Capcom did a lot of that for years. Magic Sword was another one that lacked co-op and it really hurts the game. Things got better by the time Knights of the Round was released.
Beat-em-up games really need co-op or they are very dull games. Paprium would be lame without it. I can live without the CPU controlled team member though.
For anyone still concerned if Paprium is real or not...
What feels like a few months ago Luis (via facetime from his home) showed me Paprium playing on his Sega Genesis.
Not only does the game look very good it also looks fun. I was able to see about 30+ minutes of gameplay and not once did I see a crash or a bug of any kind.
Paprium looks very polished and runs well from what I've seen. And the publicly available screen shots we've all seen do look like a fair representation of what the game actually looks like.
I don't think Luis was supposed to show me Paprium but he trusted me. He knew I wouldn't talk if asked not to (I've spoken to him about talking now). He had been working hard to try and put everyone at ease while (mostly) working within Fonz's restrictions.
I believe he showed me Paprium to try and subtly get the word out to a few people so that our comments might be able to balance the tide of pent up anger. That's just a guess.
I suspect Joe from Game Sack might have been sitting on some info too. [Sup Joe?] And we all know Joe can do no wrong so Luis' trust was well placed.
I understand why many people got really upset. We all understand. But when you finally get Paprium in your hands take some time and think about apologizing to Luis. He got a lot of abuse that he didn't deserve but finally we will be able to see he was fully on our side.
Luis hasn't posted here in a long while and who could blame him. I'd like it very much if he could feel at home again at Sega-16. He's one of those people who have done a lot for the retro gaming scene. We're lucky to have him. Hopefully we still do.
Cool to hear it looks good and fun. Were you able to hear if the music was actually what we expected?
Mine shows as "Shipped", I guess I won't have to wait too long to know.
"SPEED-DIALER edition" tells me that this game has netplay. MEGAWIRE4 isn't just for uploading scores as people have theorized and reported.
He references "Tower of Doom", which was a Capcom beat-em-up RPG arcade game. Golden Axe-style game. The sequel, Shadow over Mystara, came out in 1996. The Iron Galaxy Steam release has both games and uses GGPO co-op.
There are also "hidden secrets" in the page source code. You can click on the sign, dolphin, car (in multiple places). I don't think that any of these items have anything to do with the game and are simply nonsense. The header source also mentioned Guardian Heroes, which also was released in 1996. The later XBLA version also got online play. Golden Axe and others are mentioned as well. Paprium's home page has all of this in the header source as well, so it might mean nothing at all.
I won't get my hands on Paprium, but I don't share that feeling. I've said it times and times again, but in my opinion, Luis has shown great insensitivity by insisting on his "Haha, soon, guys!" bullshit hype train. He decided to act as a WM spokesperson, and was unable to understand why people didn't appreciate more empty promises with no proof or tangible information, after all these years of lies, silence and disdain from Fonzie, who has been spitting in the face of his customers all this time. Luis only seemed to care about getting people hyped for a game he worked on, and get recognized as one of the masterminds behind it. He didn't seem to have enough empathy to even understand the backlash he received from the paying customers who were tired of all this bullshit. In the end, he has been an enabler for Fonzie. I have no sympathy for him.
