I feel releasing this game even after all these years goes a very long way to help amend this. So long as everyone gets what they paid for. (which hasn't happened yet)
Once we have Paprium in our hands it can no longer been thought of as a scam. It's a project that ran into serious problems and was likely managed poorly but it makes a very big problem a much smaller one.

I'm excited again for Paprium and I'm really hoping that it's actually shipping like we've been told.

Luis as always tried is best to communicate with the community, and I believe he’s a big part of the game being released since no one wanted to work with Fonzie anymore, but he did despite all the backlash and and Fonzie’s anti social behaviours. Im not even sure he ever got paid at all!!! I just didnt like is last posts teasing the game was finished, and them acting like a victim when people were pissed at him, but hey i guess he was right after all for the tease! Luis is an ok guy in my book, he criticized Fonzie publicly many times and even insulted him for all the BS foing on

I completely agree with you Barone, but given the circumstances the game finally being released is still the best scenario, at leasy you get something for your money. I sincerely dont think people will want to invest anymore with WM, other devs have stepped up in the past 2 years, im looking forward to demons of asterborg, bigevilcorp and bitmap bureau’s next projects a lot more than Fonzie’s 229$usd save the dolphin game

I had requested a refund (a couple of times), and I received two emails with one giving details of the refund and an option to update the PayPal address it is to be sent too. A lot has happened in the last few years (ordered April 2017), and I had stopped using the email and that original PayPal account is long gone. I had even moved to delete my email address but thought it better to leave it open to check occasionally just in case there were any places I'd forgot to update and on the chance that they came through. Glad I did as I do want the refund because I have sold my video game collection over the last few years.

One thing they did detail in the email for anyone interested is that if you had previously requested a refund, you can't change your mind now that the game is set to ship. This doesn't bother me but I could understand it will bother people who became frustrated with the lack of communication and accountability but who still wanted the game.

I am happy that the product is finally coming and I do appreciate that they haven't simply cut and run like so many others but I would stop short of saying this redeems them. Here's hoping everything is smoother from now and people receive what they are owed and that the game delivers.

I used to check the last thread every month or so and I want to thank all of you for the humour many took in our collective frustrations over this project. I really hope a year from now, we can all look back and laugh at this.

Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion. I invested in the game long ago and hope to have something in my hands in the end. Trying to silence the anger is pointless; people are still angry so his/her opinion isn't going to change without expressing it and, hopefully, seeing the subject in a different light based on the responses of others. Trying to defend others is also pointless. Each person made his/her decisions which will reflect on the character and perception others have.

With that said, I will voice my opinion. I paid for this game 6 years ago. That's way too long to have no communication. Some could argue little communication, but for that time period what we did get was statistically insignificant. I can understand getting in the zone an trying to ignore distractions that could slow progress, but we all felt this was dead based on that decision because that lack of communication stayed consistent for over 6 years. I will say kudos for following through to final release for those involved(given we get our preorders). Most would have given up. It certainly seemed that watermelon did. I did. On the other hand, if there were a Paprium 2 using the same engine just to make me at least feel the time frame would be more reasonable, don't ask me for money up front. I will buy a game for triple the price if I want it bad enough once actually released because, with the lead time Pier Solar saw as well as Paprium, my interest in such a game could completely change by the time it is finally released.

Since investment my hobbies have shifted, and I haven't touched any games I own in maybe a year. I got married, bought a house, and had 2 kids. I've picked up pinball because, considering how terrible I am, a game lasts less than 5 minutes. I can work with that kind of time frame because I can't dedicate hours to a video game with a 1 year old and 3 year old running around.

In the end, holding anger towards others serves no real purpose; however, I don't expect anybody will forget the way this all went down and future interactions with individuals involved will likely be altered based on decisions made and expressed during this process. If you do forget, there are 749 pages of comments as a reminder if you are ever interested in some light reading: https://www.sega-16.com/forum/showth...fficial-Thread

I don't hold any anger - I simply don't trust the business practices of Watermelon. They're a shady company, and the only reason why I don't call them a completely bogus company, is because I have a copy of Pier Solar. But there is absolutely no way I will give that company any money unless there is a finished product available for purchase.

A 3.5 mm jack in the top is dumb provided the alleged TMS320 chip that people claim Datenmeister to be has a USB 2.0 capable PHY. Using the DSP as a DAC / ADC for communications is also nonsense.

It is possible to use a 3.5 mm connector as an RS-232 jack though. I've done it many times. Some hardware standardises on this. Proptotype carts that had a 3.5 mm jack could be doing this.

USB makes more sense for everything, from networking to updates.

Is anyone who is (supposedly) going to receive a cart considering to open it up and have a peek inside?

Because frankly I am immensely curious. With everything that had been announced about this thing, I wouldn't be surprised if Paprium ended up not really being a Genesis game at all, but rather using an Fpga running its own hardware emulation environment, with the console only serving for video output and power supply (and if the latter was the case it would good to know, because too much strain could damage the cartridge port in the long run).

It's funny to think that WM is probably the only game company to open pre-orders for a loot box. That's what it seems like. You pay good money in advance for something you have no clue about, but even with loot boxes you get to know the content as soon as payment is confirmed.

And this thing of getting a "free" arcade cabinet for spending over $4999 is reeeally pushing the limits of getting people excited about a promise.

Still, as I'm a sucker for beat 'em ups, if it wasn't for the terribly steep price, I'd maybe try my luck with WM again. But I know that would most likely not be such a smart move after all.

I guess I can say this now.

I still think this game is bullshit, and will think it for a solid week after folks on here post impressions.

I don't know whether you'll get to play it, but you don't seriously expect they came up with their own sound tools?
