Regarding grabbing and the dedicated grab button thing, I wonder if there's a way in options to disable it so that instead you can just grab enemies the traditional way of walking into them. I feel like I've played a beat'em up before that had a similar mechanic, but maybe I'm just mixing up my memories with a bunch of fighting games.
Now it's obvious to me this game project is not supposed to be a joke (even though it's still a joke, but unintentionally). After having viewed that Paprium video, it's obvious the game is bad and is far from fulfilling all of its promises. Fonzie is understandably not satisfied with the result and wants to take a second shot at the genre. Like "This time, I'll get it right!".
The pillar isn't distorted, it stays inconsistent as it pans across then screen. I can forgive a little misalignment here and there. Remember that the pillar might get used in a few different areas. It's smarter to deal with a little visual inconsistency and save memory. You'll notice the same happening in a lot of retro games. Even SOR has this.
On that topic, forgiving the inconsistencies in the character art the environments and visual polish are top notch! I saw some sprite scaling, some nice palette swap tricks, good parallax and even some transparency!
It'd be nice if the person holding the camera could either hold it still or not hold it at a 45 degree angle lol. Was the person playing holding the camera in one hand and the control stick in the other? Maye they were holding the phone with their teeth while holding the joystick rofl
Regarding the game, obviously we need to see more of it but I actually like what I've seen so far. I really want to know what the difference is between Arcade and Original mode, and i want to see what's in the options menu.
From the short segment seen in this video, the select screen is very nice and the graphics are very nice and colorful. On the other hand, as an animator I would say there are missing or non working frames when it comes to some animations like when the character grabs the enemy or the pose of the enemy who is being grabbed by the player. There also seems to be some kind of collision issue during this action, the distance between the character and enemy poses being too important and the character/enemy poses when being grabbed not combining well, which breaks the illusion of realism. The main character looks pretty big compared to the bg (bigger than the door) with some strange proportions in certain poses. Maybe its just an impression, but there is an overall feeling of stiffness in the moves and corresponding enemy reaction.

Isn't it funny that the gameplay of PapiRium looks less messed up? At least characters move at a reasonable speed.
My order has changed it's status to "Shipped", but I don't expect it to arrive until monday at least.
Well, my copy has now shipped. I did get a tracking number by the way, there's a link listed in the Shipping History. Let's hope it arrives before the end of the week, that would be nice.
Just found out the game is supposedly finished now? Does anybody knows if the emails are being sent in batches? I haven’t received anything yet.
Edit: Nevermind, it was in my spam folder. Let’s hope it was worth the wait.
