Holy schit, there actually is a game ! And from what I have heard, it sounds like what it is supposed to also. I look forward to one day playing this thing, the very least it is an "ok" game and perhaps even a good one.

Yeag Gamopaters corrected themselves with that 480i nonsense. I just did check this (some of it was already said in Gamopat):

- Sonic & Knuckles: no way
- Megakey 2 no switches version: works but sound problems
- Game Genie: you get the 8 bit game (probably because it can't access the save system -is it fram? do we know?)

On that note, AFAIK you CANNOT access the 8 bit game once you passed it the first time, so beware if you don't own a Game Genie. I tried deleting saves and scores and that did nothing on this.

Take your time with that mini game as it looks far better than I remember for the first time, I'm saying this unironically. Seriuosly guys, even the trolling part has nice graphics. I do remember them to be a lot uglier from the first time. It certainly looks better than on that Lizzard Mega SG video. COULD it be that it loads different graphics depending on what unofficial method you are booting the game?

I got a Game Over on Paprium 2044 because I suck, but more different ennemies make their appearance as you progress, check it out!

EDIT: upon rewatching SG footage I can CONFIRM graphics are not the same, they are better, particularly the sprites. There's at least two versions of the trolling game. Lizzard can you try it on real hardware with Game Genie just to check if it's not because your cart is different than mine?

Sorry, I only have my SG, a broken MD 1 and a MD 2 with no RGB cable at the moment to try.
Also, I do not have my action replay where I live right now... Talk about bad luck! :-D
But I am already more than happy that the game I backed in 2012 finally came out and that some people already enjoy it.
Cannot wait to listen to the OST which I often think about!

You are right concerning the minigame: GFX are messed up on Mega SG and it has more to offer the more you play.
I already noticed 3 different setups so far for background characters.

I'd also like to know this as the track that plays at 0:45 on the sampler is what I envisioned for stage 1.

I think I heard it during some boss battle but don't quote me on that. Is it present anytime on my 45 minute audio recording?
BTW stage 1 music loop is much more enjoyable when played on proper audio equipment and without SFX (which makes no sense gameplay wise, but still). I still think it's a bad choice for stage 1 music, it's pumping and makes great contrast with stage 2, but detracts from the overall feeling of the first rounds of play

I can do that later today or tomorrow, I own a Game Genie. I only played a minute or so of the minigame just now because I was more interested in checking the main attraction.

I played on my Nomad in arcade mode ... what can I say ...
It's a Bomb ... It doesn't paddle, crazy Zoom effects, very nag, magnificent graphics, a top level artistic achievement, music and sound atmosphere worthy of arcade machines ... In short, the game of the end of 2020, or even the best current Megadrive game in terms of the achievements of the time, or even MORE!
The wait was worth it ...

I couldn't care less about the merch, packaging etc. I don't care if it's great or if it's just a sign of the times (form over matter). FWIW I find that sculpture horrid haha.

Of course Fonzie is not sorry, and he should, what's the point in keeping on discussing this exactly? The fucking game is here and it was released in total shock & awe. Shallow gameplay/AI and animation flaws or not, the game is FAR BETTER than 100% of us thought it would be, given the problematic development. I was expenting being disappointed once I played it a bit more after the initial blinding first impressions, and it's the opposite: that's speaks volumes, even if it's coming from a random forum poster with no beat'em up PhD at hand

Nothing to worry about. The game runs normally at 240p and the Framemeister has zero issues with it. Looks like some people's capture devices are incorrectly detecting 240p as 480i, what else is new?

Having said that, this is the kind of technical detail that would've been very nice to know ahead of time, if a certain developer had been generous enough to share it with the community. Now you get all this confusion for no good reason at all.

First impressions are pretty good. I played a little bit of the first stage in Arcade mode and it looks and sounds pretty dope. Yeah the animations aren't as smooth as you'd like but the game plays well and the visual design makes up for a lot. The music is also unlike anything I've ever heard coming out of the Mega Drive. Looking forward to play some more. I'll likely be streaming an hour or so of Original mode on Twitch later today.

The dithering effect is always going to be amplified by upscaling a direct RGB feed to 1080p. It'll look better on a CRT television I'd imagine. I could apply a blurring filter to make the dithered colors blend together, but that doesn't really look better IMHO. Personally I don't really mind dithering, it's part of the '90s videogame aesthetic.

So to summarise the thread thus far:
