There is an option to use the internal Yamaha chip as a DAC, how the sound change with this option enabled?

I did try that briefly on the stream. To me the Yamaha DAC sounded less bass-y and had a bit of distortion to it. The default Datenmeister DAC sounded more full and cleaner to me. I think the option is there in case the cartridge's built-in DAC doesn't work properly on certain hardware revisions. I heard reports that sending audio from a cartridge to the Mega Drive can cause some humming noise, something I have indeed noticed (albeit very mildly) with the Mega SD. On my VA4 model 1 Mega Drive it's not an issue but I can imagine that on some later models it might be. My guess is the option exists for compatibility reasons and the default setting is the preferred one.

Yeah the hum is real, though you'll probably won't even hear it unless you hook to hifi equipment (or headphones) like I did. I can confirm it sounds worse with Yamaha DAC, but then again, if enhancing the sound a bit is the main use of an add-on chip, not sure the enhancement it provides is good enough to justifiy all the heck it has brought to its development. Next weeks of investigations will provide more detail on this, but I think everyone suspects anti-piracy is one of the main reasons to have tied the game to a special chip.

The music would have not sounded like this, though. Would have it been great enough without the chip? My guess is probably. Just check it out with the checkbox unticked.

Also what's up with the front facing doors that can get slammed?

I tried capturing some slightly longer footage of the mini-game but it's really testing my patience.

For me it seems to play out pretty much the same every time. Enemies just get increasingly more numerous until they overwhelm you. There's the occasional healing item, seagulls and beach lady sunbathing in the background.

If you want more I can keep hacking away at it to progress further, but I'm not exactly enjoying the experience.

I also saw on Twitter a sprite of Fonzie chilling out at the beach (which would be the troll moment, that paprium is an lazy barebones 8-bit game and fonzie is chilling at the beach with a suitcase full of everybodies money).

    EDIT: here's the pic:

    Thanks for this!

I actually fancy the graphics, as I said. Also title screen music is Never gonna give you up, right? in game music is horrible.
Even the light changes. I tried myself to go right first then battle when scroll stopped, but I suck at this mini game.

I have heard on a live chat that completing the troll game unlocks something in the main game... From someone who hadn't played it yet. To confirm.

Interesting the design has evolved to WIFI! Originally you'd connect to your phone via a dongle. This looks like he's streamlined things to make it a better fit with home wifi tech, I like it! Based on that I'd hope he's worked some magic on the audio cable transfer code to speed things up. It's hard to know given the radio silence from those involved past and present... Combbook back pages may have something? The leaked docs say: Highscores, DLC, Game Updates and hint at 2 player co-op but insinuate that will come later due to technicalities.

Are you meaning there's supposedly a wifi chip INSIDE the cart? That would be under the METAL heatspreader, right? So...

How do we account for the difference in graphics between SG and RH on the mini game? It's just SG doesn't emulate something, or the Daten is doing something to the graphics, or what?

Regarding the mini game, I'm pretty sure completing ANYTHING in this cart just unlocks another thing. I doubt it would be big things (new characters will be unlocked within the main game I guess).

BTW according to the metro map there would be 25 levels once you account for everything.

I had to re-upload the VOD of my stream because for some reason YouTube managed to remove the audio from the second half of the video, after I attempted to trim off the start and ending cards. It also made the stream chat subtitles go out of sync, so a full re-upload was the easiest way to fix everything at once. Apologies for the inconvenience!

@Inqualls as Always a Good job, by the way your pixel art since the old board always awesome!
It really make total sense in SoR3 visual style.

No, it's a dedicated module connected to the jack. Check that :

I will never buy a game from watermelon again regardless but this is down to Fonze and his god (Godde?) complex, but at the end of the day, watermelon has delivered and it does look like a great game, with amazing packaging and with the Grand Stick as well. The logistics of pulling all that off must give them some credit imo.I pre ordered the game and am waiting for my copy which will no doubt arrive. Look take it for what it is, a week ago everyone thought we had been ripped off for sure and this is a great Christmas present. Lets just enjoy the game.

And yes, same for me, backing another game from WM... that ship has definitely sailed.
Guys it was nice to read your messages. Thank you for this. I hope Luis is starting to see that not all opinions are like the most harsh ones.

Paprium is shipping and I'm incredibly happy that it's finally real. My order is still in a status of "shipping..." which I think means it's ready to ship but has not yet.
