The art mock-up of the figures do look cool. I'd like to have them but I just don't have the money right now.

Because there is so much to chose from I've decided to go for:

    PAPRIUM (Regular Edition PS4/5)
    PAPRIUM COMPENDIUM
    MINI-PAPRIUM (Regular Game Gear USA)
    PAPRIUM (Regular Dreamcast USA)

I might add 16-BIT PAPRIUM (USA) if there are going to be some changes/fixes and if I can find the money before the end.

...and I may have also pledge for 'say my name'.

    The cost adds up fast!
that's a nice selection I'd love to have my name put in the 16-bit version too, you never know we might all be pounding on someone called Sega dude in PAPRIUM in the future!

All the complaints I've heard (and I agree with the constructive critiques, not the trolls) is that the gameplay and AI need to be tweaked and reworked. You can have all the content you want, but if the gameplay and AI aren't great, (IMO they are passable at best) all you have is a very pretty tech demo. I guess my point is that I don't see gameplay refinements as needing a lot more space on the cart. Am I wrong?

This game doesn't need more content or improvement in that dept. The presentation and sheer amount of secrets is AMAZING. But it does need gameplay refinement and AI improvement. The only additions I'd suggest would be bigger move sets for the characters as there isn't a whole lot you can do fighting wise IMO. A light combo system ala Streets of Rage 4 would do wonders for replayability. But then you are getting into more frames of animation and I doubt that is going to happen. But who knows....
I'm not sure if you're just adding your own thoughts or misunderstood my point. It looks like there will be fixes and additions in the future versions. The next version of Genesis carts may have a different revision altogether. Do the current carts have enough space to add those fixes? Thinking that the current amount of content on the cart is enough or not is subjective and is a separate topic from the amount of space on the cart or if an update is possible.

Would updating the carts remove content? Those extra GA & SOR stages contain copyrighted content. Would the original carts keep those stages if updated or would they get removed? This would force people to have to choose what is more important to them.

Sengoku 3 is a gorgeous looking game that isn't all that fun and can get boring very quickly. Two may not look as nice, but is more fun IMO. Not that it matters since they all pale in comparison to SOR2 & 3.

Other way around, Sengoku 2 looks better but plays basic.

I'm in the same boat. Jumped on the Game Gear version but then decided "what the heck" and grabbed a DC version. Might go for another Genesis version since it'll come with a clamshell and the updated version of the game.

The more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to go for the classic version just to get the updated version. I would double dip and get the Switch physical but there are rumours (?) it is a code in a box. If so then the cost is nothing short of scandalous.

Is it a fact that this Kickestarter Paprium (16-bit version for Genesis / MD) will be an updated version? (fixes or anything else?)

    Or is it just speculation?

The man said so himself on some youtube interview IIRC. The extent of that update/bugfix is yet to be determined. He said the carts that remain to be shipped (even older ones) will have updated versions.

Also now there is a Grand Stick IV...

So, will all the people that already paid for, and received their game, be left out? Kinda a weird way for all this to wrap up... Hopefully there will be further clarification on this.

I assume so which is why I’m backing the project for a fixed version.

    Genuine, non-provocative question:
what kind of "fix" or improvements are backers expecting or hoping for?
Personally, I wouldn't count on anything core like hit detection and AI

    Another question:
how do you feel buying the same MD game twice?

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

I don't think this is a really good thing to support, if that's the case. He's basically be telling the original backers to kick rocks. This is a really bad look on Fonzie and WM. I really hope that he can clarify this.

I think the only fix would be to get Paprium to work on all revisions of Genesis/MS consoles.

People have said the game just won't run on some official hardware. If the fault is Paprium then that would be a very important fix.

Personally, I don't feel Paprium needs any tweaking (AI or otherwise). The game plays great.
