I'm happy with the copy I have (thanks to you) but I wouldn't mind getting the "updated" version too if they really add a bunch of new features. I think the kickstarter facebook comments said that the early adopters would have to send in the original releases to have them updated and then they return it. Honestly, I don't want to keep piling onto the hate-wagon, but I'm not comfortable sending them my copy knowing there's a strong possibility it would be in limbo for however long they take (or Heaven forbid I never get it back) so I'm just gonna grab a second release and consider it Paprium "Turbo Champion Edition" in the back of my mind.

huh, the wire would just be any 2.5 to 3.5mm audio cable that you connect to you PC/phone, that is/was the plan at least. Sending back and forth the actual cartridge doesn't make any sense for ANY of the parties involved.

Really? Does this look great to you? I guess we all have different expectations.
Knowing Fonzie he wont bother redoing the AI, he'll misunderstand our complains completely and just make it so you can't spam the jump kick.
Well it's now official. Paprium has been cracked and is playable in MAME.
Sheesh. It really makes you think that perhaps, less time and effort should be placed in anti-piracy measures, and instead, just make getting the game easier, and offer pricing options for people that want to get it digitally. At some point, you have to just realize that there are people that never intended to play this on real or clone hardware to begin with. It was always a matter of time before any game gets cracked.

Well said, Jorge. It reminds me of the South Park episode Christians Rock Hard.
Ironically, it was the vulnerabilities in the FPGA and other chips that allowed Paprium to be dumped.
Ordinarily, I would feel bad for a developer having their game leaked less than a year after release. But in this case, I don't. Fonzie sold a cart that doesn't even work for certain hardware revisions and some buyers still haven't received the game at all. So this may be the only way people can play a game they already purchased.
I figure most here will have no trouble finding the link for themselves, but if you need any help, feel free to send me a DM.
My main gripe with all retro releases is the availability, meaning, all this FOMO nonsense, limited run printings, and absurd retro-scalping, the options available for purchase, there really should always be a rom/digital option, and cost to manufacture ship. We have to keep in mind that there are games that cost more than new games, for current systems, that are so much more game for your dollar. It's not that I'm not interested in paying for new games, but they should be made under the understanding that if they are going to be priced so high, they'll have limited appeal. The size of our community that actually buys these games is a niche group (Sega diehards) within a niche group (Sega retro fans) within a niche group (retro gaming enthusiasts). There has to be options for digital downloads, a Steam/Switch/PDN/XBL option, etc. The physical game should be the least of concern. It's the smallest group of people that will buy, and they will more than likely buy a digital copy as well. The focus should always be to dev and publish a game for current platforms and delivery methods that is also something that can be sold as a digital rom or a physical item.

I think some of these games are not actually made for people who enjoy playing videogames. I know that sounds crazy, but how else to explain the obsession with packaging, trinkets, limited editions, certificates of authenticity etc versus focusing on core gameplay and making the game accessible to customers? If you wanted people to play your game, you'd have it available on Switch, Steam, Evercade, etc. On the other hand if your market is made up of people who like to collect game boxes for their shelf and/or buy up games as investments to appreciate in value, who cares if it plays well or even works?
By the way the Paprium ROM is only 8 MB so all of Fonzie's claims of "it's really as big as a Neo Geo game" were bullshit.
