Let's all knock it off with the namecalling and the insults in this thread.

Yakuza is a great series, and Persona/SMT is a video game series for weeaboos with no mass appeal at all, sales be damned. From the company that gave us:

    After Burner Climax
    Sega Rally
    Daytona USA
    2D Sonic games
    Streets of Rage
Castle of Illusion (and the remake) Quackshot, World of Illusion
    Billy Hatcher
    NiGHTS into Dreams
    Comix Zone
    Golden Axe
    Vectorman
    Jet Set Radio
    Outrun and Outrun 2
    Space Harrier
    Panzer Dragoon
    House of the Dead
    Crazy Taxi
    Streets of Rage
    Die Hard Arcade
    Ecco the Dolphin
    Shinobi
    Virtua Fighter
    Virtua Cop
    Shining Force
    Derby Owner's Club
    Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
    Phantasy Star
    Super Monkey Ball

I should be impressed with SEGA's recent output? Almost Every single one of these game series hasn't gotten a new game in ages. Pump out all of the Yakuza, crummy Sonic games, and sequels of Football Manager that you want. Doesnt mean I will be impressed by SEGA's recent output or Atlas titles outside of Yakuza. One series shouldn't make this company. Let me get hyped for Sonic Origins, the 90th rerelease of games I've already played.

It's not like Nintendo even allows their games on the PC, which at least SEGA had the sense to do and now it seems even SONY is remembering what it was like to allow your games to come on the PC.

Let's just hope Xbox finally buys SEGA and all SEGA's money worries are over

That's being selective and a little unfair, We've had sequels to of those IP and they bombed regardless of the quality, case in point JSRF.

Overlooking the likes of Yakuza 6 was one of the best in the series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 was amazing, Alien Isolation is one of the best horror games ever made. Sakura Wars (PS4) was a lovely game that looked stunning, Judgement a totally brilliant spin-off , Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise a total blast from start to finish and Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis a lovely update. Maybe you should try and buy those games? and find out, that some of SEGA recent output isn't too bad at all.

Hopefully, now that Nahoshi-san is gone & with SEGA looking to spend big on games, have a new studio, they'll be even more creatively at SEGA

    Sonic Mania
    Streets of Rage 4
    Panzer Dragoon (Remake)
    Shenmue III

Sega is a rudderless ship at this point with a ton of IPs that sit dormant. Someone name me a worthwhile Sega game from the last five years not named Yakuza that was developed in-house. Puyo Puyo Tetris? The Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania HD Remaster? SEGA was putting out quality games for even the Gamecube and the PSP. They haven't put out anything quality in ages. They blocked two sequels to Jet Set Radio and Space Channel 5 for god knows what reason.

Consoles like BonusKun said would just complicate things and further waste development money.
Someone rep this post cuz it hits the damn nail on the head. Sega is better where they are which isn't much of anything outside of farming their IPs to people who give more of a shit about them then they do.

You use Gamepass just as much as I do and many new PC titles don't even have physical releases these days.
Also holy shit TA. The next time you call Lenyos a Nintendo fanboy, I'm going to remember this post.

How many games last gen did you buy that was made by SEGA In House last gen?. Also, it's not always like outsourcing works like we saw with Sonic boom

Please don't hit back with insulting or degrading comments. Did you actually 'buy' and play the likes of Valkyria Chronicles 4, Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, Sakura Wars, Judgment, Yakuza 6, Fist of the North Star?

The only game I bought was Fist of the Northstar because the other games were boring as hell to me.

"weebos" Easy dismiss millions of sales because you don't like it. So you generalize. What a stupid mass ignorant generalization. You move goalposts and dismiss great successes by SEGA to fit your own shitty narrative. EVERY 3rd party developer has reduced the number of IPs they develop. Games take more effort, resources, and money now. It's Riskier for any developer to pump out a billion IPs and guess what all those IPs we love from SEGA's past DIDN'T MAKE THEM SHIT. Why they don't make consoles. Oh, poor 45-50-year-old SEGA fan wants his Altered Beast. Who gives a shit? SEGA is not trying to appeal to you. There weren't enough of you in the 90s to keep them going. They are not suddenly going to make all those games again because Company X bought them. They would be even safer than before. Smaller indie teams would not be making Panzer Dragoon Remakes or Sonic Manias.

Oh and not to mention a number of those IPs mentioned have had a new entry or remake. House of the Dead is getting one but we gotta dismiss that too somehow. Doesn't fit the narrative of WAAAH MY SEGA.

Persona sells millions not to "weebos" but to people who like good games. Same with SMT. They are far from the "weebo" narrative. You just assume without playing any of them. "they look anime, therefore, weeb shit" I'm sorry but these games are not a Kagura or Neptunia. That is weeb shit.
Yakuza is not for "weebos" as holy shit that series is anything but.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

My own thing on this take is some of these games are just a lil too cringy for me. I'm not calling them weeaboo games but they've never caught my interest.

When do you think that quote by Rosen was made? The mind boggles at this response, Sega fans should not have this lack of awareness.

Yes you should, because I've enjoyed Sega's in-house output more than any other developer these past few years, and so have my friends. I don't care about covered-in-mothballs Golden Axe. I'm so done with reboots that are designed for people like you that say these exact things. Even Yakuza is getting long in the tooth, which is why I welcomed Judgment. Quality is what matters, not arbitrary names from 30 years ago.

I swear, it feels like people just want to time travel back 20 years without understanding anything about what made those times special. I guess it's a sign of the times.

You think you're better than the Persona people?

I play plenty of games with "anime" art. Person and SMT are weeaboo games that 95% of Americans would find bizarre and would never buy hardware to play. I never said Yakuza was for weebs, but Persona and SMT are. It is my opinion. I don't give a shit whether or not Persona fans are a sensitive bunch. There is a wide berth of Americans who think video games are for children as a whole. They have all the right to hold that opinion when people spend 40 hours in front of a screen enjoying straight weirdo trash instead of reading a book.

And I listed literally over 20 franchises that SEGA has either only put out a remake or hasnt touched that they could make games for and don't. Even as a publisher they've been ice cold. They let Nintendo poach Bayonetta.

If you think Football Manager, crummy 3D Sonic games, Yakuza and SMT are selling a console in 2022 you are a fanboy. Yeah these "greats successes" are why SEGA's stock is $14 a share and Nintendo's stock over $500 a share. Now you tell me the "successes" that I am ignoring. I dont disagree that SEGA has a few minor hit franchises under its belt right now, but that is not some massive success. I don't work for SEGA, and I don't need to defend the company. The average gamer can see they are totally asleep at the wheel as a whole.

Anyone can see that all of the games I listed in the previous post have broad appeal across a wide variety of genres. You cannot say the same about the SEGA of 2022. I didn't even mention when Sega had games like World Series Baseball and 2K sports. They were a full development company with a lot of different franchises. Now they are a husk.

Leynos, the only one crying is you because you can't handle the criticism.

I’ve been trying to get into Persona on the PSP. The bubblegum pop music is ear bleeding annoying and several of the characters are cringy looking. I don’t even know if I want to try PS5 on the PS3, after seeing that. It feels like an RPG made for little girls.

Yes he does. "most Americans find it bizarre" as if that has any real meaning. Because what Americans think means more. Americans think something is strange therefore it can't be good. Even tho those games sold the best in the US but again gotta change the narrative! He's so full of shit.

Persona 5 is rated M and not for nudity or anything. For language and subject matter. P5 is known to have one of the better soundtracks of its generation with a heavily Jazz-influenced OST. P5R is the game to go with. Personally not played Persona 3 so I can't comment much on that one.

SMT is not about saving the world. The world is ruined. SMTIII and V esp deal in finding your place in a post world. SMT is very desolate and dark. Do you want to become a god? Kill God? Let everything stagnate and die? Your choice. No good or bad ending. Just what you want to align with.
