I kinda did that to myself when I was a kid.
I never played my own copy so when I was given
a "broken" LOZ for NES I cleaned it and upon
booting up entered my name as ZELDA ...
The cheat hotline made a mint off of my parents
and when I couldn't beat a certain
part I let my sister play (she would just power willy nilly
and resetee my save) lo and behold "Barbie" had a different first
dungeon...🤯

Either there's a mistranslation or Miyamoto has changed his mind over the years, I have never heard of LttP coming after the first game in the timeline, it was always sold as a prequel.

I'm not surprised Miyamoto handled the first part of the game though. I remember playing OoT for the first time and thinking "this is cool, but I don't know if it feels like a Zelda game". Then I got to that part in the Deku tree where you jump down through the spiderweb and I realized oh yeah, it really does have the same sense of exploration and puzzle solving just in 3D.
