Default I need to play a good RPG.

So, because its -300 F outside and I still have a class to go to yet (BOOOOOOOO), and I havent beaten a good RPG since August (Final Fantasy II), I feel the need to play a good RPG for Genesis. Problem is I have no idea about which RPGs are good. So, list three good RPG's I should play. Go.

    My suggestions:
    - Phantasy Star II
    - Phantasy Star III
    - Phantasy Star: The End of Millenium ( AKA Phantasy Star IV )
    - Crusader of Centy
    - Beyond Oasis

Beyond Oasis isn't an RPG, but PLAY IT anyway.

    Phantasy Star IV
    Shining Force 2
    Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)

    Those are the good ones.

    Phantasy Star II
    Phantasy Star IV
    Shadowrun
    Shining in the Darkness
Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention
    Shining Force II
    Ys III

Those are all of the best options available for the Genesis. If you're interested in the Sega CD as well, you should play any and all of the RPG's for the system.

Ehh I wouldn't bother with Crusader of Centy. Not bad but I really forgot what the point of the game was story wise 1/5th into playing it. Then I got confused even further because I didn't know why I was still playing a game that I completely forgot the story for. Plus the bosses are, lets just say, less than challenging. :/

    I would go with:

    Shining Force II
    Phantasy Star II
    Phantasy Star IV
Landstalker (which is more of an action puzzler than an RPG, but it has enough RPG elements to make the list, I think.)

In a pinch, Shining Force, Shining in the Darkness, and Phantasy Star III will do, but I really recommend the above list.

I would go with Crusader of Centy because a) it's very pretty and b) the ending is very much worth your trouble.

I have been getting back into Genesis RPGs lately. I've owned almost all of them for years, but most of them I haven't played. Oh well. I played through Lunar 1 which is awesome, although I think the PSX version was better (don't stone me!)

I'm about 2/3 of the way through Phantasy Star 2 right now, and it's fun but it is pretty hardcore. If you play this I hope you like leveling up. FAQ is a must if you don't plan on spending the better part of a year wandering around the dungeons. I lost my hint book

Monster World 4 - if you are playing with an emulator, get this and the translation patch. It's so damn good, although I won't play much of it since I want to play it on a real Genesis.

Beggar Prince-just arrived in the mail today, I will pop it in after I finish Phantasy Star 2. Getting a new Genesis game gave me the warm fuzzies on the inside (even if the post office damaged the case.)

Out of all the RPGs I've played, I would say that Lunar 2 and Shining Force 2 are king. Disclaimer: I haven't played Phantasy Star 4 yet.

Ehh its not exactly a console game (although the first game was on the Genesis/SNES) yet, but Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden is a great rpg so far. Space Jams, Chaos Dunks that kill 15 million people, what more could you ask for?
