A stupid zone name is Gigalopolis Zone in Sonic Chaos, though. Just look:
Mega = Million
Giga = Billion
Megalopolis = Very big city
Gigalopolis = Even bigger city? No, a city of prostitutes!!! What were Aspect thinking?
Green Hill
Marble
Spring Yard
Labyrinth
Star Light
Scrap Brain
Final

Smith: I can't be bothered to remember the name of such a shitty zone!
^They got the urban nightlife setting right but I don't see any hoes. Maybe there are breakable walls? The zone naming in Chaos is pretty sad overall.. four zones that are just variations on Green Hill and Egg Zone.
BTW, Gigalopolis got fixed in GG version, there it's Gigapolis.

Note sure. Spring Yard is not remembered much, so I'm championing the underdog there.
But also GHZ as it's the one Sonic is known for. You think of Sonic, you think that with all the Flicky's running with him.
Needless to say, there's nothing like Casino Night's there.
Green Hill--my first experience with any video game.
Star Light Zone is my favourite. I love the music, dodging those bombs, all the spinning on the loops etc. Plus the boss battle with Robotnik is great fun.
Greenhill Zone is a close second.
I hate most Sonic Water levels but the Labyrinth in Sonic 1 was done very well.
I used to hate Labyrinth Zone but I grew into liking it over the years. It's a very well designed set of levels that reminds me a lot of Castle of Illusion.
My personal favorites still are Green Hill and Marble Zone because they remind me of that new year's eve 1991/1992 when me and my brother first played the game on the Mega Drive that the older daughter of my parent's friends had.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.

Spring Yard. I love all the bumpers, lights, and multiple routes. The music is pretty good, too.

I like GHZ the best, then probably Star Light or Labyrinth. Star Light Zone is interesting because it comes after Labyrinth and you think it's going to be a really difficult level but it ends up being a cakewalk. Also the background and the level in general reminds me of Strider.
I always loved the music and appearance of the Marble Zone
Yeah, but it went on and on and on and on and on. Just like most of the levels in that game. I'm a fan of Star Light and Green Hill.

Next up on the tee:
Tecmo Super Bowl III
Bass Masters Classic
Star Light Zone & Green Hill Zone.
Star Light Zone because.. it made me feel like the worst was over (as in difficulty)
to me its really a level that just makes you feel relaxed, nice background and soft music.
Green Hill Zone, they always say your first one is the one you remember most fondly,
well this is certainly the case with GHZ, the tropical level setting has become synonymous with Sonic for me.
and then later on seeing Emerald Hill Zone in Sonic 2 just made you instantly realize that you were back in Sonic's world.
I don't really know which one i favor the best, probably GHZ but i just get teary eyed when i hear Star Light Zone's music,
because it still brings back that feeling of when i first played Sonic1 and reached that level.
Most people are familiar with the Green Hill zone because it is the first zone, but to me, the Starlight zone is basically Sonic at his best. Speed, level layout, music, graphics, everything clicks.
I also like the Layrinth zone. Probably the only 'slow' zone I really like.
