Default CDX + Hitachi HD TV = Excellence

I was bored last night and since my Xbox is bricked I thought I'll do my classic sega gaming on something other than an emulator. So, I hooked up the Sega Genesis CDX to my recently purchased Hitachi HD TV and I haven't played my cdx on this tv because i don't like to bring out my cdx often, thats why i've been playing on emulators. Sp I fire up the sega classics collection and select streets of rage, and HOLY JESUS WAS IT CLEAR. I could see every pixel of detail, and it looked like if I touched my tv, I would be able to touch the background. Then I popped Sonic 3d Blast, and I PHISICALLY HAD TO MOVE BACK FROM THE SCREEN BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS VIBRANT AND FULL OF COLOR AND LIFE. It almost looked like I could reach and touch the green grove bushes and poke the enemies. I cannot put into words how clear it is, I tried to take pictures but it looked all blurry and "Shakey-Cam" crappy. I felt so bad because I didn't have any screen capture software. If you want to breath new life into your genesis collection, buy a Hitachi HD TV, it's worth the 300 - 700 dollars. Your cable will get good reception and You'll see all the little details you didn't notice all the times playing genesis on a standard definition TV. I will make another thread ( OR MAYBE A FEATURE )with pics on how to rock your genesis setup

What model is that TV of yours?

I'm looking at HDTVs now, but I'm terrified of how my SD games will look on them, even with component.

Assuming it will be your only TV, you can kiss goodbye to light gun games for a start.

I have a 32" 4:3 Sony Trinitron for my retro consoles, the picture is spot on and I can play Lethal Enforcers and Virtua Cop for the rest of time (ish)

I was able to play my Mega Drive on my friend's 42" HD screen and yes it is brillance - I have a scart cable for clearer picture and stereo sound and wireless controllers, I'm so glad this modern setup of bliss doesn't just work with new consoles but older ones aswell.

The challenge is harder for us Americans. The good news is the SCART to Component converter plus the audio mod. But even with that the upscalling will look like shit (that's were the $200+ XRGBs comes in).
