My brother's Fit acts all weird when he buys certain brands of gas. It makes no sense at all.

I can only guess that it is the mix, or ethanol, or something. It is weird and I already wasted $300 trying to fix it.

Hah, well the 2001 CRV currently gives me a check engine light when I buy gas outside of certain Chevron, Texaco or Shells, and sputters and dies at random times when it is fueled otherwise. The Prelude overheated on a road trip last November and has been louder but drives fine ever since the repair and valve adjustment. The old $30K Prelude that I paid $3K for also needs new struts and the first quote I got was for $700, which makes me want to do it myself and possibly die in the process.

Yikes. Ask on honda-tech or SuperHonda (though SH has been overrun by spam lately), people are always helpful there. Do you have the shop manual?

There isn't a fuel filter in the CRV, weird as that sounds. That was my first guess too.

Thank you for the links, I have been forced to search forums for the last several issues I have had with these cars and all of these were on the list. Unfortunately solid info is really challenging to get and I am, after nearly twenty years of driving, finding repairs of vehicles eight years or older untenable. I think I could have gotten us into two newer cars with fewer problems last year if I had a couple thou to work with, and I spent that couple thou on these cars that still don't give me enough confidence to take them very far out of town.

God dammit. I got 2 options for work tomorrow:

I can wear the same underwear for 3 days now, or wear the piece of shit silk underwear that rides up.

The underwear is only 3 days old. No need to panic yet.

Seafoam works great, along with some higher octain gas from the right sources. One of my usual expectations is I shouldn't have car problems without additives or select gasoline providers. With my older cars this was all a sign that they were getting too old for me to maintain economically.
