Place ain't exactly thriving & bustling with activity anymore, so no need to worry about clogging up the forum and that's what search engines are for.

More threads creates more activity, more activity brings in more members & lurkers out of the shadows. Not every thread is going to please everyone, why having more is healthy for a forum as there's more chance to reach a wider audience.

I'm not going to bother starting a thread for my question because that would be a little silly. But here goes:

How does anyone gain the level of skills in technology that allow them to do things like hack iphones and crack protection on consoles?

I've been to my local college and the only technology courses I can find are things like beginner programming and networking and stuff. So how does anyone acquire 1337 skillz? There's 15 year olds that can break PS4 protection, but I'm not seeing any method to gain any real tech skills beyond "Hello World" programs and learning how to plug in a router.

I probably look like a moron for even asking that. I'm not expecting to join a college course with a name like 'How to hack a DVD player' but I'm just not seeing any obvious way to gain any cool tech skills. Even the people that I know that work in tech aren't giving me a straight answer on that one. In my last job a customer showed me a cool hack for a DVD player and I felt like a moron for not understanding what was going on, when I was supposed to be the expert on the units.

Do you mean 'using the hammer' or building the hammer? If you mean the latter then I guess you mean you want to learn how to code right? It's not a stupid question either, I'd love to have a go at coding too. Maybe have a look at the whole Raspberry Pi scene, or PM someone like Sik perhaps.

YouTube might be a good resource, there are always people who want to share skills and make tutorials. Kids learn code now, maybe speak to one of their school teachers if you can (or one of them and risk their scorn!).

I would imagine it's like anything else, you would have to start at the bottom, learn the ropes and then use the knowledge to build things - like hacks, games and the like. Seriously, ask around on the forum, people here are cool and would definitely help you out.

I'm trying to keep my idiocy and insecurity out of the main forum. I don't have an issue with starting new threads, as long as they're worthwhile threads that people can get involved in. My lack of technical skills isn't something that needs a whole thread clogging up the forums.

Sounds like an interesting topic. As for hacking consoles. some are easier than others. The Wii is pretty much the easiest out there imo.

When you have people like you creating shitty threads all the time, it only attracts more stupidity to the forum and alienates the ones who like good content.

It's not that hard, she can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Then again, so can I.

By the way, that topic is about Dark Souls PVP. One of the biggest joys of gaming I can think of, sue me if I'm trying to teach you guys on all the fun you've been missing. That short 2 min video clip was just to warm you guys into it before unleashing the 10 min followup clip that dives into the meat of things. It's called showmanship and presentation. And there's another point to that 2 min video clip is supposed to convey (besides a good time and much laughter)... so no need to jump to conclusions, Barone. Learn to argue, not hate. You can do it, buddy.
