I'm stuck in a weird place where I dunno if I should go for a "full set" of Wii U games, or not. I think it's stupid honestly, but I only lack about 25 games at this point. I don't mind having all of the decent games, but I just hate trash I don't care anything about junking up years of mostly curated stuff, ya know? Like I can't pay $100 for Hello Kitty, or even $5 for a single Just Dance game. I'll probably end up about 15 to 20 out, and just give up. Should just save myself the headache, and just shed all of the garbage stuff out and go back to having a respectable library.
I’m guessing it won’t get much cheaper than right now to complete it. How many games are there, total?
If you don't have that ocd collector's bug that makes you have to have a complete set, then why bother? I mean, I can see if you're a completist and just have to have the set, but if it doesn't bother you, then why spend the money on games that you'll never play? You could put that cash (and shelf space) to better games that you actually want.
I never understood the complete set mentality. You just end up with a bunch of trash you don't plan to play and in many cases, it seems they don't play much at all just have it and it kinda pisses me off as that's a game I could own, play and enjoy. Personally only collect games I want to play.
I think it's like 150-some. The reason why I started is because I just really dig the console, and I see it as being the same kind of underdog that Sega was back in the day. On top of that, actually most of the physical games are decent, only a small portion really suck. So I don't mind actually having most of them. I also like collecting Wii U memorabilia, promos, displays, controllers and stuff like that. With a humble library, it seems like I should pick up all of the games too, but I just hate those really crap-tatastic titles that hold me back from completing the library. I don't want to spend a penny on them, although, I do already have a number of them. Like, do I really need that other Barbie game to express my approval for the console? That thing is easily like $20 because of it's lower print. $20 on a Barbie game that I know isn't any good... and there's like 15 other games like that too.
Each to their own, though. It may be the "completionist" mentality but if they can afford it and it makes them happy....
Personally, I can't quite understand the collectors out there that only seek out perfectly sealed games. To break that seal would probably be seen as sacrilege to them. But, again, each to their own.
That goes again with my belief games are meant to be played and I feel a game sealed not being played is a waste and once again denying others a chance to play it. Holding myself back here. I feel a bit too strongly about it so I will drop it here before triggering a derailment lol.
I actually seek out perfectly sealed games with the intention to break the seals. Why? Because it's a fresh copy, unsoiled by oily fingers and general neglect and mistreatment like most used copies. I have a thing for mintness with modern games. I treat my stuff with respect, and it pains me to have beater copies lying around that don't reflect my standards.
I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been in a holding pattern for about four years now with the last couple dozen games standing between me and a complete GameBoy collection.
You know in your heart what you need to do, though: buy inexpensive WiiU lots that include those shitty games, and resell the dupes.
Oh, I totally don’t get the “sealed” mentality. A few years back I happily imported a sealed game (Lolo on the GameBoy) and some DUNTZ member here expressed his shock and dismay that I had opened and played it. I wanted to punch the computer screen. Actually, I’m feeling irritated about it all over again.
Edit: Any similarities in structure and word usage to the previous post are purely coincidental.
