VinnyT, you didnt watch the entire movie so your opinion is moot.

And also VinnyT if I find you I will introduce you to an actual *Thwack*![]()
Speaking of movies that people think are shitty (sorry guys - can't vouch for Doomsday, or whatever movie you are all talking about), I just watched the second Aliens vs Predator movie.
Why am I surprised that this movie sucked?
I have the ability to look past the suckiness of movies in favour of what I do like about them... like the AVP ones, I love the aliens and the predator so as long as they are there I don`t really care if there is a shitty story line or bad acting!![]()
The Aliens and Predators were cool in the first AVP, but in this one they were all just stupid, I thought. It started out alright, but it fell to pieces fairly quickly.
Against all odds I still managed to like it.... even though it was a far cry of the first!![]()
I thought the first one was pretty silly, too. One thing I liked about it is that the aliens seemed to be James Cameron's Aliens, rather than the disgusting ones from Resurrection.
True that. What I liked most about it all was the tying in of both the aliens and predators, in their own movies there was no great detail about either of them. The fact that the predators use the aliens I thought was pretty cool.
Yeah, but it could have been better. I'd rather spend four hours watching Predator and Aliens back to back than two watching AVP.
Absolutely... I would go with alien, aliens and the first predator!
I like 'em a bit more action packed. Ridley Scott is cool and all, and Alien is a classic . . . but it's just too damn quiet!! I prefer Aliens because they went into greater detail with the lifecycle of the creature (the original concept of the first film was that the alien itself somehow turned its victims into pods). And it's just a kick-ass film all the way through with an awesome soundtrack. Oh, and Bill Paxton's finest role, as well.
You can't beat Predator with a stick. Not even a really big stick wielded by Arnie himself. Predator 2, not so much, but the first film and the second aliens movie would absolutely be in my top 25 movies of all time.
Agreed! Predator would have been shit without Arnie... imo!![]()
I'm one to ignore the AVP movies, I find their setting to go against the logical technological progression of time shown in the movies (IMO)
"Predator"- 1987 Technology current with that year
"Predator 2" -1997 slightly advanced for the year (just slightly), but not over the top.
"Alien"-2123 (or 2120's) Gives enough time for humans to conquer space travel.
"Aliens" 2180 - Time enough to forget about the aliens + space marine jawusumness.
Alien 3 and 4 are ignored just like AVP.
Look, I like David Fincher. He has a cool style and I like just about all of his movies. But Alien 3 just wasn't good, no matter how flashy the photography or how good the acting was.
It would have been acceptable as a different alien movie (as in, completely removed from the franchise altogether).
And Alien Resurrection was just ridiculous. That was the first time I saw Ron Perlman and I hated him on sight.
"3" is a terrible movie that the "directors/extended cut" makes mediocre.
There is so much wrong with that story/script I can't even begin to start.
But being freed from the "Alien" series might have made it a "so bad its good" joy.
"Resurrection" is just too damn goofy to be taken seriously, plus it plays like a generic late 90's CGI monster flick.
