Looking good buddy! I particularly like the fire extinguisher and what appears to be a gun on the desk. It shows that you're pretty much equipped to deal with any situation. The chair has seen better days and the walls have really bad rising damp, but you're doing your best and working with what you've got, and that's all any of us can do. Did you model this look on Josef Fritzl's rape dungeon or is that just a coincidence?

You could probably build a super comfy little room out of that, just clean up the walls and paint them white, put some comfy red carpet on the floor..
little desk in the middle of the room, chair against the back wall so you can just crawl under your desk and reach your computer space. mattress on the floor
in the middle of the room for that sleeping area. and a tv on top of the desk overlooking your bed area.

Nice framed poster of your favorite movie on the left, favorite sexy female celeb on the right. Boom! done! cut print.

He didn't seem to mind and happily spent all his money on action figures but I was thinking to myself "Has Toys R Us always been this outrageously expensive? Did I just not notice the prices as a kid?" I don't know how the prices for toys, games and related stuff compares over in American Toys R Us stores but if they are comparable then no fucking wonder they're going bust.
Yeah, unless you get stuff on one of their sales (which can be quite good), I've noticed that their merchandise is at least 10%-15% higher than other places I could go.

I'm kinda hoping to take advantage of some 'Going Outta Business' sales...

Yeah good point, there should be a big fire sale soon with huge banners hanging over the front of their stores stating 'EVERYTHING MUST GO!!'. Then, and only then, will I venture back into a Toys R Us.

    Neat.
Neat is the inability to comprehend how the lack of competitiveness has done in TRU. Somehow every store I mentioned is still functioning, even with Walmart/Target/Amazon, yet TRU is put out of business because of such factors? Anything one can purchase at BB is also available at Walmart and Amazon, no? Books and magazines can not be found at Walmart and Amazon, right?

Edit: MAybe it needs to be s-p-e-l-l-e-d out but a global toy chain should not be selling toys for more money than else where. Why would I go there and pay high prices when I can walk into BB and save 20% on my hobby?

I know, they are just the worst!!! Grr! Why did they have to give their competition such an edge???

(I wish I’d realized twenty-four hours ago how blind your hatred was for Toys R Us, this conversation would have gone much simpler.)

Wait... who were their competition again?

Ah, doesn’t matter. Toys R Us sucks so bad!

So I have been talking with Nathan Barnatt (Talking Classics/Kieth Apricary) and I'm sending him my second DreamEye since I have 2. He's shooting a Kieth Music video with the DreamEye. Also seems he lost some TC episodes since an HD died a while back and I happened to have the HD versions on my PC so he can put on the next TC DVD. So it was cool talking to him. Real cool dude.

Business is cut throat and TRU never adapted nor addressed the competition in a proper and timely matter. Nostalgia was the only thing it had going for it and even that was in short supply. Now it is about to be known as a defunct toy chain.

It had nostalgia going for it from my perspective until I went in a Toys R Us store last year and saw the prices. Then the nostalgia sort of blew away in the wind...along with my money. Wish I was a kid again...(sighs)

Actually, I don't know if we're going to get any sales. Didn't they file Chapter 7? I could be wrong, but that may almost overnight make the stores and the inventory some bank's property.

Has anyone driven by one of the stores lately?

I was really surprised to hear that Toys R Us was closing up shop (I always assumed they managed to stay in business thanks to registry lists etc.). What I wondered about was whether they had made a decision about their Canadian stores. One analyst here stated that "The Canadian operations of Toys "R" Us are managed in Canada and operate autonomously from the U.S. operations, giving them a separate and healthy balance sheet". In spite of that, the company is in talks to sell its entire Canadian business.
