Imagine if they like.. created something awesome like holographic projection televisions, and because there's so much new equipment inside the TV becomes big again.
and then to make people buy it they start selling it in that retro woodgrain style again, and the antenna's make a comeback because its necessary to project the image.

I gotta say, the fake woodgrain look on electronics always looked awful to me.

CRT pictured with Mila is more what I have in mind. I really like 90s electronics designs. Esp late 90s.

    Life?!...What console is that on?

Early/mid '90s for me. I've always thought this set (CT-20S2S) was one of the most elegant TV designs of the time (1994), from the side logo to the clean indentations.

    Not my photo.

Disclaimer: I have this TV. It was my old family TV so when they upgraded more than a decade ago I grabbed it.

I have my Mega Drive/Mega CD, Saturn, PS2 and (whispers it) SNES hooked up to my Wharfedale flat screen CRT TV circa 2005. It weighs a fucking ton but good old 16-bit games look and sound fantastic through it. It's served me well for the last thirteen years and it's still going strong.

I wonder if anyone else is like this. Games series or games they like with fanbases they loathe? I like Sonic and love Shenmue but I despise the fanbase of both. I esp dislike Shenmue fans. No doubt one of the most toxic out there. Maybe not Smash Bros bad but it's bad. Sonic fanbase..well do I need to say anything? Capcom anything has an awful set of fans.

I get like that with music. I don't hate Pink Floyd, I hate rabid Pink Floyd fans. Too many other bands like that to list. Movies too. As bad as the new Star Wars movies have been the it's fandom that is now surpassing that of Trekkies is what really turns me off.

Holy crap I had no idea Tool was still around. Tho I think generally rock bands don't have the best fans. I remember a kid who wore a T-shirt to school with a nude nun that said: "Jesus is a Cunt" and I thought what a nice band and group of fans they have there. I'm not even religious but found it in poor taste.

I know Sonic is famous for having a borderline disturbed fanbase but I wasn't aware that there is anything particularly annoying or worrying about Shenmue fans. Not that I've met many over the years...myself excluded. Nothing comes close to the sheer obnoxious childish hysteria that emanates from Star Wars fans.

Of course not, that would be too obvious.

I would say, however, that they are ... “46 and 2”

Those 400 lb HD CRTs do exist. Sounds like a perfect match for a lot of you guys.
