Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is fired by Disney over some stupid comments he made on Twitter ten years ago.
That’s horseshit.
Spend most of the day up the vets: dog is usually hyper, but woke up to find she was sluggish, staring into space and wouldn't drink. Rushed her down to the vets thinking it was heatstroke. Nope, according to them they though she had eaten some drugs of some kind as she was displaying "neurological problems". Wanted to do blood tests, etc for 500 GBP. I was confused because I don't have any drugs, except my medication, but I keep that far away from her. In a room she doesn't have access to. Made me shit myself, thinking the neighbours had thrown something in the garden after that had a house party the past week or something.
So I took her down to the Blue Cross, a charity vets, and they gave her a look over, gave her an antibiotics injection and I'm very pleased to note, she's showing signs of her old self. Not 100%, but yeah, she's better than that she was. Drinking water, running around, and showing her usual love for food.
Looking online and from what they prescribed her (diarrhoea gel to help her stools harden), it seems she has a gastrointestinal infection. Charity vets seemed to spot it straight away (someone who brought their cat in had the same thing funny enough, so it looks to be fairly common this time of year), makes you wonder about the other vets who wanted to do an instant blood test. She's got another appointment tomorrow as a follow-up, and if they think she needs further investigating, they're put her on fluids and do a blood(+) test/s then. Judging from her vast improvement after the antibiotics, I don't think it will come to that, though.
Don't know if you leave her outside in a yard unattended but be aware that dogs will often eat dog poop* (even their own). If she does that she might well reinfect herself if that is the problem.
*Disgusting I know - we love our four footed friends but they will still do odd things.
Oh man, I hope she’s okay.
Poor dog!
She used to do that when she was a puppy, but not anymore, though I'm sure she would if she was left alone, she might. Thankfully, I don't leave her unattended, she's practically with me all the time, or someone else.
Thanks man. She's a little trooper, I think (more pray) she'll be ok.
Today is the first day of my twelve day break from work and I'm looking after my nephew. The weather's great here so I'm looking forward to taking him on walks, playing on the Mega Drive and watching old-school WWF wrestling with him.![]()
How is the world a better place when people don't know how to farm, how to sew, how to cook, how to find clean water, how to find north without a compass, how to perform multi-step mathematics without a calculator, or how to raise a child? A better question is, why are people not tasked with learning these things in public school anymore?
Thanks man, appreciate it. Yeah, the local vets, the ones who wanted to do the blood tests are money vultures. When my old dog, Josh was dying, they tried asking me if I wanted to put him on tablets (really expensive ones as well). I'm like, no - he's peeing everywhere, heart racing, legs giving way, hardly breathing, no I don't want to put him on tablets. To give a picture of the severity of his condition, I had him put to sleep that day. Had to. Loved the dog to bits, but he was clearly suffering. And they wanted me to drag that suffering out. Leeches, absolute leeches.
Anyway, got back from the charity vets - they confirmed my suspicion that's it's a gastro infection. Antibiotics have worked. She's a lot better now. I wish I could swap vets I really do, but it's a near hour car drive to and back, whereas the other is a ten min walk.
Honestly? The internet. When you can pull your smartphone out (and what kid these days doesn't have one of those), what's the point of teaching something like that? I agree, these things should be taught, but the world is simplifier by the minute, and for the worst.
