The old Star War Movies were great

The Prequels are OK, but nowhere near as good as the old ones.

I got one that will knock you on your ass.

I tried watching the first movie in the mid-90's, when my parents bought the (untouched) trilogy on VHS, I couldn't make it through the movie. I have no nostalgia attached to the "Star Wars" movies at all.

"Back to the Future" is my holy trilogy.

I liked Star Wars when I was younger, but now the only one I can really enjoy is Empire (probably because Lucas had the least to do with that one).

The rest of the films in the trilogy have aged very poorly, and the less said about episodes I - III, the better. But as I said, Empire still owns.

    @ Rusty

Oddly enough, even though I love the movies (again, the original three), I have no inner Star Wars fanboy for your *bewildering* opinion to offend. I've been thinking a lot about nostalgia lately and its importance to older movies and video games.

I haven't decided how important it is in either case, but I was more "knocked on my ass" by our Mega Man conversation last year than I am by this revelation.

How do you feel about the Indiana Jones trilogy then?

    @ Jerry

I think there's still a lot of charm to the original Star Wars film, but Return of the Jedi's Ewok wackiness doesn't exactly hold up. Empire Strikes Back is awesome, though. Hands down. (best soundtrack of the three of them, too)

A New Hope does have its moments, but I think my big problem with it is that the acting just screams "high school drama club production," I guess. And yeah, my deal with Jedi is that it's essentially Muppets in Space. I also hated the way Boba Fett was built up to be some insurmountable bad-ass, but then he is accidentally defeated by a blind, stumbling Han Solo in the most retarded way possible. And also, now that I think about it, I hated the way Solo gets demoted to "comic relief character," basically all he did for the rest of the film was crack one-liners.

Jeez, what a mess that film was, and still sadly soooo much better than the newer, more unwatchable trilogy :\

This is perhaps my biggest beef with Return of the Jedi. The acting and character development might have been a little hammy in the first two, but just about everyone became cardboard cut-outs in the final film. Han Solo was downright annoying, and that's a shame.

Episode III was the best of the prequels, which is also tragic because it's so depressing I've never been compelled to watch it more than twice (once in the theater, once on DVD). It was a bit clumsy and heavy-handed, but I liked seeing everything finally come together and set up IV

Totally fine with it, save for that crawly bug scene in "Temple".

But BTTF is still my holy trilogy.

    Nothing wrong with sharing that.

Bit I am a bit biased.

Whatever happened to the actor who played Principal/Marshall Strickland? Seems he was everywhere in the 80's/early 90's.

I guess he's been replaced by Ed Harris.

Except you need the PC version, which I have.

    The problem:

    VC + Vista + Virtual Machine =
