So, my original Sega Dreamcast just broke.
R.I.P., my beloved.![]()
Might as well take mine. I had the equivalent of a "bad date" with it this morning. Tried two games and was disappointed in both. Add that to the fact that I haven't been too impressed with any of the DC games I've played.
...and I have the good ones.
^^^I had a bunch of replacement DCs to spare, but I'm sad for it was the one I bought at launch. I'm still hopefull I can fix it; whenever I get around to it.
Also, what games have you been playing? There are so many awesome arcade ports on the Dream machine. I'm in love with it's library in general. =)
Okay, maybe not the good ones. But they're all reasonably highly-rated.
This morning:
Sonic Adventure
Street Fighter III: Double Impact
The rest:
Resident Evil 3
Ecco the Dolphin
Space Channel 5
Sega Marine Fishing
Armada
Unreal Tournament
Chu Chu Rocket
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Haven't played yet:
Soul Caliber
Starlancer
Worms Armegeddon
House of the Dead 2
In all fairness, not all those games are disappointments. But the two from this morning sure were, and the other games weren't amazing enough to balance them out.
I think I'm better off with my PS2 & Wii

Of the one's you've been playing, with the exception of Sonic Adventure (which is absolutely awesome), I can see why you've been disappointed. Those games are good, yes, but they don't really show-off the awesomeness of the Dream Machine. Here are 10 titles I would recommend:
1. Shenmue
2. Grandia II (It feels so much cooler when you play it on the DC).
3. Skies of Arcadia (Same thing as above).
4. Jet Grind Radio
5. Super Magnetic Neo (Obscure, but awesomely awesome).
6. Giga Wing
7. Sonic Adventure 2
8. Soul Calibur (yes, you're right to want this title)
9. House of the Dead 2 (Same thing as above. Also, you'll want two guns, one for a VMU, one for a Jumper Pack, both of which you can use at the same time. It's soooooooooo awesome being able to use two controllers with the same dexterity as one).
10. Tokyo Xtreme Racer (It takes time and money to get your dream car, but you can build your own "Garage of Awesomeness" if you buy a game shark)
GunBird
Honestly, the issue isn't really with "games that are on the Dreamcast." It's the Dreamcast exclusives that are letting me down. I enjoyed Chu Chu Rocket for what it was, but neither Ecco or Sonic impressed me at all. And I don't know why, but I had really high hopes for Sega Marine Fishing. I blame myself for being disappointed in that one...
The hell...?
The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?
