Actually, the story was quite hilarious and it actually reminds of some bickering couples in my time.

I'll agree with that. I'm electronics/register and I've only gotten a 30 cent raise even though I've worked for a year and received near-perfect performance reviews. The only reason I stay is because I like my coworkers and I know the job.
