I don't trust frogs...there is something amiss about an animal that can swap it's gender.
Man I'm pissed. I shelled out $40 bucks to get a like new copy of Morrowind GOTY edition for the XBOX. I get it in today and it's a piece of shit. The case is scuffed to hell and there's a big fuggly ass sticker on the front. I can't leave him negative feedback yet because I have to wait 7 days so I sent him a message. Basically it said send me the damn game I ordered or I'm going to stick it to you anyway I can.![]()
You bought something with a stock photo, didn't you? Dude, you're smarter than that!
Of course, I'm one to talk. I bought a "like new" battletoads cart, and when I received it, the case was brown instead of gray, the label was faded, and the casing was cracked in two places. I'm pretty it didn't look like when it was new.
No I didn't, he's just hard to pin down...because he's so like his name and former avatar. So, after much contemplation, here it is:
Jackal = a small, benevolent fox, the kind that goes its own way mostly, but in a pinch can be counted on to come help one get back into one's car, or into one's neighbour's when one needs to borrow his.
Even cute little wood frogs with wide eyes and perfect skin? Sorry, but it is entirely your fault for making such a strange impression on me.
Whatever it is I did to give you such impression, now you must really elaborate.
Frogs too I find a benevolent creature; not in the roamy wild way of foxes, but in a less active, more Buddhistic way. Plus you're so wide-eyed at the world of gaming. And I really did have in mind a wood frog.
edit: pasted a photo here but it got lost on posting---too much of a nuisance, you can look it up yourself if unclear what a wood frog is.

When I was a kid, I remember I would look at a frog and I was so disgusted that the image wouldn't leave me for at least 7 days. In like manner, I wouldn't even be able to eat for the same 7 days (unless forced to). This wasn't fear, btw, as I was raised in the country-side of Cuba and was well-known as a kid and early teen as an avid snake and lizard hunter. This was pure disgust. I hid this, of course, until I was in college and head peer of a Biology lab that I ultimately decided it was time to confront my 'disgust'. The instructor forced me to open an airtight Ziploc bag of 30 dead giant bullfrogs for dissecting purposes. After that day, I've had no qualms about dissecting frogs, even less looking at them. A couple of years later, in NeuroScience lab, I was already grabbing these giant bullfrogs live and 'mercifully' removing their brains for reflex arc experiments. Heck, I've even eaten frog legs.
Point is, even though I've managed to beat this 'disgust' or even 'fear' of frogs, I'm still not ready to be compared to one, if you know what I mean. But I get what you were going for there, so thank you. I guess I must take it as a complement.
P.S.> Now I'm reminded: Did you see that giant frog eating a baby T Rex in Discovery Channel's Dinosaur Revolution? That was kickass!
I had a dream last night that I was eating a raw frog. It had an (imaginary, but probably accurate) cold and muddy taste and a cloying, stringy texture that stuck to my mouth. I spent most of the dream on the verge of vomiting, trying to get the taste out of my mouth.
And today my wife told me that our dog ate a frog and now there's all this frog-talk here today.
Coincidence???
