I finally got Darksiders in and had a chance to play through the intro/tutorial and some of the first "mission". My initial reaction to it is that I don't really like the art direction or the graphics, it looks like an early HD game even on the PC, but with huge environments and long draw distances. War looks almost exactly like Wolverine when he was Apocalypse's Horseman of Death. Seriously, did I miss a memo that there was some pre-existing fantasy cannon on how Horsemen look?

Really though, I have no idea how anybody could criticize Beast Rider's graphics in particular and when everybody rated this game so highly, I must be missing something. I've said it before though, Presentation usually does not affect my enjoyment of a thing, the nuts and bolts are what amuse or bore me. The gameplay is very much reminiscent of Soul Reaver though, and that is a very good thing in this market of DMC/Zelda clones.
Getting to play as the Horseman War in a quasi-literal biblical sense mixed with eastern mysticism (Good=Bad, Power Check Third Group) is a very cool, if a little benign, concept and I hope it starts feeling cool as he starts gaining power from absorbing souls. The Lock On, Dodge and Block Mechanic is sufficient to keep me interested in what looks like a game literally filled with group combat, and with more advanced gameplay than the Soul Reaver games had for the fighting.

Sorry you don't like the graphics, the actual game does get better as you progress with it, though. Never read the X-Men comics, so I had no idea they ripped that off, but there's no mistaking War is also partly inspired by HellBoy; they both an enlarged hand, both use pistols and both fight demons:
The whole game is an amalgamation of other people's ideas.
Blue Souls are the game's currency, you'll meet a trader soon who'll allow you to buy stuff with them, like upgrades, health vials and new combos.
It should; it's the heart of the game and the reason I enjoyed it so much. Just press on, you'll enjoy it.
Can you guess who this is?

Hah, I hadn't gotten to the gun yet, that's pretty clear. I was thinking the thing I liked least about the character design was the huge metal hands. I'm really not complaining, just critiquing the art direction.
Definitely not a bad thing and a lot better than just cloning one game would have been.
I'm already getting into it, it'll be a good jaunt.

Lol, actually, It's me when I was 12 years old. My 6th grade music class had to make a music video as a class project, so myself and three friends got together outside my house, and lip-sank The Beatles song "Paperback Writer".
Ironically, I'm supposed to be Paul McCartney in that video, so your guess was fairly accurate.![]()
You know, come to think of it, the N64 is probably the least-interesting console I own, probably tied with the GameCube. I wouldn't even own the GC at all if it weren't for the GBA Player, since my Wii plays all my GC games. Also, I have three working Super Nintendos and a Super GameBoy cart, so that makes the GameCube even more redundant.
I only got my GameCube because Sega went multiformat and, at that point in time, I was a massive Sonic fan, so I had to get one.
I don't regret getting one at all; forgetting the Sonic stuff, I managed to play all the past Zeldas (thanks to the Zelda Collector's Edition and Limited Edition Wind Waker packs), Resident Evil REmake, Super Smash Bros. Melee, MGS: The Twin Snakes, Rouge Squadron II and also the GB Player. No, I don't regret the machine one bit.
