They really need to get on that Red Dwarf movie. You know who would make a good Lister? Either the guy from The Office/Invention of Lying or the guy from Shaun of the Dead. You know who would make a great Rimmer? Johnny Depp. Come to think of it, he would make a good Cat, also...

They already made a Red Dwarf movie...finally, its out on DVD, I admit I was surprised...it surpassed my expectations immensely and I still wasn't overly happy with it.

You mean the Back to Earth special? I didn't like it, the whole Blade Runner spoof plot was rubbish imo.

I agree, but I thought it would be a LOT worse than it was.

That doesn't mean I liked it, I suppose I was still surprised that it wasn't as awful as I thought it'd be.

It's like taking your car to the mechanic thinking something horrible is wrong with your car and it will cost $5000 to get fixed and it ends up
    only costing you $1500.

You're not happy, but happier than you would have been.

When I started collecting GameBoy games, one of the first games I bought and played through was Mole Mania. This is a first-party title that, judging by the style and "feel" of the game, was handled by the same team that did Link's Awakening. I loved the game, and have been searching for a "complete" version for about six or eight months.

So imagine my delight when, after over half a year of watching Ebay, a listing comes up for a "Sealed" copy of the game for $34.95. And I'm pretty sure it's legit, too. It's even still got the hook tag glued onto the back.

Here's my problem: Do I open it up to confirm that it is legit, or do I keep it sealed? I have a feeling if I open it, I'm going to later wish I hadn't. But I don't want to leave this guy positive feedback if he just sold me a remarkably convincing reseal.

I got banned on another board but the owner of the site was kind enough to give me another chance and let me back in and he says my name is unblocked but I still cant log in. He said to clear my cache and delete cookies that say the name of the site but I did that and it still says Im blocked. Im really mad now.

Just leave it sealed. I got Operation C (finally) off ebay recently myself. It was just the cart, but the price was decent.

Well, what do you call a decent price? Operation C was one of the top games on my hit list when I started collecting, so I watched ebay until a CIB listing came up for $19.00, shipped.

There are certain games that are too good to not own a complete copy, if the price is realistic. I paid $60 for Ninja Gaiden Shadow and a **cough** similar price for Mega Man I & II. For the most part, I just have a rapidly-dwindling list of games that I know I want in complete form, and I receive emails daily for anything on my watch list. There is a handful of games, however, that I know I'll never be able to afford. I won't pay $100 for Mega Man III, and the prices for IV and V are easily upwards of triple that price. Castlevania II is another one that I'm certain to never get. And I'll just be happy if I pay less than $30 for Kid Dracula, cart-only.

Oh, and I opened Mole Mania. It was legit. It would have been nice to have a sealed game on my shelf, I suppose, but I only ever wanted it complete, not necessarily "mint." That "new game smell" was totally worth it.

Wow, these days a loose Operation C is about $20. I got mine for about half that and some change. I could have gotten it cheaper, but then I would have had to deal with questionable sellers using stock photos and such. And I only buy from sellers who take pictures of their items where used stuff is concerned. I've been burned too many times buying something in "Good Condition" only to find half a faded sticker peeled away and the pins growing legs.

Oh, and I have a sad story to tell. Years ago I scored a copy of Castlevania Legends from somewhere. Not realizing what I had I sold if for peanuts. On a more positive note, I do have a loose Castlevania II that I got from a fleamarket for cheap

Hm. I bought Operation C about six months ago. Sounds like someone put it up without comparing prices, and I just got lucky.

Your Castlevania story reminds me of when I found Mega Man V here locally for about $5.00. Unfortunately, I did know what I had, so I immediately turned it around and sold it for 10x as much on ebay. I definitely wouldn't do that now.

I got pretty lucky with my copy of Castlevania II. I think you even commented on this bundle a while back in the haul thread. Some guy was selling a bunch of surprisingly valuable games as part of a bundle, including Castlevania II and Metroid II, both with manuals. I think it averaged out to about $7.00 per game.

Is there a god/goddess of retro gaming? (And/or nerdly collector geekisms?) I think I need to sacrifice something substantial in their honour to ensure all the nice deals I've found this week actually end up getting delivered to me safely... :/

I believe so. I sacrificed my XBox 360 to it a while back and everything seems to be working out all right.
