I didn't. I just stopped going to his house. Since he never visited me it pretty much ended it. It's a very sad thing though. In my friends case, I think he is the way he is because he didn't think his dad ever really loved him. Ultimately alcoholism is a disease that the person has to want to get better from. My friend though just wants to self destruct. If I thought there was something that I could say that would change it I would, but there isn't. His other friend and his wife even support his choice of lifestyle. I just couldn't bear to be around him anymore. It was too depressing.

What is confusing? We've both apparently got a friend who is ruining his/her life from alcohol abuse, and it's a sad state of affairs. I was responding to Iron Lizard's post about dealing with my own friend's alcoholism.

Its easier to say when does he not drink which seems to be almost never. He has always been like this but he has down hill lately.

Sometimes he is the functioning alcoholic. I'll go over and help him work on his car say at 4:00 or so and by 11:00 the 12 pack is gone. Never getting hammered but always keeping his buzz.

If we go out he will get trashed. Tonight he asked me if I could drive him home before he even showed up. I have no problems driving people home especially friends but I couldn't bring myself to help him on his spiral downwards and I called him out.

Recently he told me he drinks alone getting blackout wasted.

I just can't stand the way he acts. Even when he's sober he just has reverted to pure meat head reptilian thought.

Yeah I sorta tried the same thing but he got all ex girlfriend style weird on me because have been hanging around other people a lot. Nevermind he has been doing nothing every other weekend but railing skanks and drinking.

From the sound of it. It read as though you guys had been talking about it before your posts. That you started with "I didn't", did not exactly clear things up for me. That's why I was confused.

But my question remains, though (and I guess for you too). How much drinking is involved, exactly? It's a serious question.
