    Ah, sweet recovery. This is the second day I've spent out of bed. Body aches and throat-swelling have subsided, appetite has returned, and energy levels are approaching normalcy. I knew I was getting better when I rolled out of bed yesterday morning and used the captain's quarters for the first time since I was struck with... well, with whatever this was.

    I don't want to sound disgusting, but a solid diet of antibiotics, Motrin, cough syrup and saltine crackers have some very peculiar results. It was fascinating, actually...

    No, but I've been thinking of you while I've been playing Bionic Commando on the PS3. It seems like one of those games that you'd go to bat for, since it seems to fulfill at least two of your requirements: it's almost universally reviled on the Internet and it has that depth of combat that you like. I'm pretty sure it's available on the PC, so you should try it out if you haven't already done so.

    Edit: that sounded snarky, so let me clarify: I really like this game, so that recommendation comes from the heart.
