I played super mario bros 3 for nes for about 8 hours a few days ago and beat it twice, not all in one sitting but it was great to have some serious game time while I was off of work last week. after mario bros 3 I played about a hour of ninja crusaders for nes.

also, last week I downloaded sonic cd for ps3 and played it for about 12 hours over a couple days and beat the game with both sonic and tails. still working on getting my time trial times under 25 minutes though, so far I'm at 25 minutes 36 seconds.

last night I played a bit of mario vs donkey kong for gba for about 2 hours and it's quite enjoyable, a worthy sequel to donkey kong 94. then played transformers war for cybertron for ps3 and its pretty good so far and I'm really liking how the characters are based off of their g1 designs.

it felt great to finally catch up on some game time, usually when I get back from work i'm so exhausted that I just feel like going to sleep.

Animaniacs is annoying! No wonder no one took it. Honestly, I thought it would be simple but I never played it before. Good thing I have a year to finish it, I might need that extra time!

NFL 95 locked up on me already. But I was able to play 1 game and I lost. I'm not sure about it, it lets you just simulate the entire season if you want to. There really isn't any team ownership. I'm going to do a test, but it might be possible to beat the game without even playing it. If that test works out, maybe it can be disqualified. Even when you start a new season it tells you that the CPU controls all teams.

It also occurred to me that my sports games might need to get their batteries checked.

I was playing Dragon Warrior III

I got to the final boss, but needed to level up just a bit more.

...And then I got this message:

"Regretfully, the game in log 1 has vanished".

    WTF!!!!

Did I just delete my fucking game!?!?!?!?!?!

[EDIT] I just went back and tried making a new file and deleted it on my own. It appears I didn't delete my game, it just did it on its own. This is just too fucking unacceptable.

    damn dude that sucks!

Currently I'm busy with Aero the Acrobat on the SNES. Very average platformer. Not really enjoying this one. About to abort and play something else.

For the PS1 I'm currently playing a bit of Ape Escape. Yeah now this is more like it!

    Tokyo Jungle
Not sure if I like it yet but it starts with one bad ass pomeranian.

    Max Payne 3
Disappointing so far. It runs like shit on my PC even most multi-format games run well enough. I guess it's a decent cover shooter but that's kind of the problem. It's so focused on being defensive, it forgets what made the first two games fun: jumping around and shooting. You can rarely do that in this game without being killed instantly.

    Super Mario 3d Land
I'm near the end of world 8 and annoyed that there has been virtually no challenge, just short levels with unnecessary checkpoints. I can only hope the special worlds afterwards make up for that as it does every else right.

I've been playing Virtua Racing my Saturn for the past week. I don't care what people think, it's great. The Grand Prix mode has been keeping me entertained for hours. I loved buzzing around in the go kart. The new tracks are all well designed have have nice scenery. I can't say I like it more than the 32X version because the arcade mode is easier in that one, but the Grand Prix mode makes them equals IMHO.

On Sunday I watched my friend play through Super Ghouls n Ghosts on zsnes. Man, is that game worse than regular GnG. You can't shoot up anymore, the double jump is a bolted on gimmick, only two of the weapons are decent, and my god is the music horrible. It's the most banal fake orchestral noodling I've ever heard on the SNES. Every track is completely bland, lifeless, and lacking any sort of personality. I can't recall a single melody.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

I've been playing a different Genesis/32X game each night this week. Last night was The Jungle book, tonight was Terminator 2: Judgement Day, which I don't think is as bad as everyone says it is.

    Also played this week:

    Streets of Rage
Doom 32X (another game I enjoy that everyone hates)
    Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Played a bunch of games on monday as I had a friend come over for a bit. We played some Ninja Gaiden, we beat Gunstar Heroes (first time I've played two player), we played Sonic 06 (shits and giggles) and we gave Ikaruga a go to see how far we could get...the game still remains unbeaten. Lots of fun was had.

Today I played a bunch of everything as I now have a nice receiver hooked up to my Genesis and it sound freaking amazing.

On Friday I get Sonic Colours in the mail so I know how this weekends going to be spent.

Yes, a penguin taught me French in Antarctica. Comment allez-vous ce soir?
