I always just thought it was a joke:

Super Mario Bros = Super Smash Bros.

I think Nintendo had the right idea to use cartriges at the time. I mean, imagine playing "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" if it was on the Playstation:

Hmmm...where was I suposed to go? Hmm...maybe I can get a hint at the Market place...

    AUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, with the N64, it only takes 1 second to load the next area. Also, you NEVER get a message saying "GAME PAK CAN NOT BE READ..."

Only retards spell pack as "PAK", this means Nintendo must be retarded.

The N64 is one of my least favorite consoles of all time. The graphics were some of the worst EVER, even for their time. Zelda looked like vomit... literally. Those colors were atrocious. I think there ended up being only 3 games I actually liked on the thing. What a horrible, horrible system and a waste of money.

Once again have you played any games with the extra RAM PAK in high res mode?? Games like Rouge Squadron where sharp as a bell and compared to Dreamcast games of the time.

What do you mean "once again"? I have played games with the ADD ON and though better, I still was not impressed. I also do not like Star Wars games. And the DC beat the shit out of the N64's graphics.

Zeeebee beebee, that's Sega of America. We all know that they are retarded. Who else but retarded people rely on focus groups? That right there proved they knew nothing about videogames but were instead just corporate suits.

N64 came out in mid 1996... Dreamcast in what late 1999? It's like 3 years newer of course it's better!

Oh and thats not just ANY 3.5 years... think about the 3D Acceleration boom at that time. 1996 is like first gen Voodoo 1 era to 1999 witch is a Geforce 256 world with Voodoo IIIs on the way out and 3DFX in general going down! Lots changed in that time.

How can you say Goldeneye (doesn't even use the RAM PAK) wasn't an impressive console game for its time?? Seriously??

Fact is these^ graphics are better than anything the PSX could do at the time... so what's the problem?? Not enough developers really pushed the N64s abilities. Much like the beloved 32x, Saturn or SegaCD there was great potential on top of the numerous great games for the system. Main difference is the N64 actually sold (in comparison) so there was a ton of games pushed on it... crap or not! I just think it deserves some respect!!

PS1 was hurt'n on the eyes. I rarely liked 3D games for the system. Saturn was the same or worst for 3D. Low polys and low res textures(twitching textures at that) where nasty. With PS1/Saturn you got pixelated puke, with N64 you smooth bilinear pixelated puke but at least the textures didn't twitch and warp.

I borrowed an N64 from my brother to play Zelda OT and the graphics were much better than anything I had on my PSX at the time. That's about the only game I was interested in for the N64. I do have to say later gen PS1 games do look a lot better then the average PS1 game, but the frame rates dropped into lower numbers.

The second to last PS1 game I bought new when it came out was FF9 and it looked great for a PS1 game. I skipped over FF8 entirely because I couldn't take the pixelated poly mess

When will people learn it's not the graphics, it the gameplay?
No, it's about the graphics relatively speaking.

I just hate that fucking n64 controller, I really do. I tried playing starfox 64 the other day, a game I used to be semi respectable at as a youth, I couldn't fly for shit. The analog stick just sucks beyond belief. The buttons are all in crazy places, I just hate it. There are some good games on 64 (theres way more crap games though) so im not totally hating, but I just think the system is real bitch made.

There is no reason to believe that Zelda would've had load times like that being on a disc-based system. Ever hear of Soul Reaver? Threads of Fate? Mega Man Legends? Metal Gear Solid? All 3D, "wander from area to area" type games on Playstation with either no load times or very minimal load times.

Now, disc read errors were indeed common on Playstation. But that was more due to the low-quality hardware than anything. I can't remember ever having a disc read problem on Saturn. Although I've never tried a really scratched-up disc, I've never had occasion to.

About the same time companies not to put their main analog stick in the center of the fucking controller.

I love using a controller where my hands are piratically on top of one another. Being that close means my hands won't go crazy wondering where the other one is!

The N64 fails even harder on this front.

ha their are so many sega fanboys here hating on nintendo, its pretty pathetic i thought those days were over.you are missing out on some great games peaple.

i love n64 it has so many great games, and i love the fact it was cart based, sure it limited some games but having no load times just kicked ass.controller was great but the analogue stick wears out too easily and the left section of the controller is practically useless.
